Colt Blazin Fundraizin to benefit fire department
Saturday will mark the eighth annual Colt Blazin’ Fundraizin.’ The event raises money for the Colt Fire Department and is basically a city-wide sale.
Mayor Randy Hefner laid out Saturday’s events, including the newest – the lawn mower tractor pull.
“This will be the first time we’ve had the mini-tractor pull,” said Hefner. “They have been at other area events and we are glad to have them with us. They will start at 10 a.m. in the middle of town.
“The tractors are just like the lawn tractor you have at the house to cut your lawn, but they have been modified for the pull. They pull a little sled just like in a tractor pull with bigger tractors.”
According to Hefner, there will be vendors selling items throughout the city.
“The sales will start at dawn,” Hefner said. “They will be in every corner of Colt. We still have booth space available, and anyone interested can call us here at city hall at 633-9170.”
Hefner said a $5 donation to the CFD is required for booth space and food can be sold at booths. Speaking of food, the CFD will once again be selling food. “We will be selling food at the grill at the Community Center, but our guys will be driving around selling food,” Hefner said. “That way people don’t have to walk all the way over.”
One of the most popular items are the ribs. Hefner said rib orders can be placed with any CFD firefighter.
“It is best to pre-pay for the ribs because they go fast,” Hefner said.
Hefner also said a quilt, made by Johnny Harris, will be given away. “A chance for the quilt is $1 per ticket,” Hefner said. “She is very famous around here for her quilts, and we are happy she has decided to let us give one away.”
Hefner invited everyone to join the fun on Saturday.
“We want to see everyone out with us whether you have something to sell or just want to see what is being offered,” Hefner continued. “We always have a great time and we invite everyone to attend.”
