John Cox Danehower Sr.

Mr. John Cox Danehower Sr., age 89, of Forrest City, died Saturday, April 21, 2001, at his home.

Mr. Danehower was born Sept. 23, 1911, in Forrest City and was the son of Samuel Chester Danehower and Nora Bell Cox Danehower. He lived in Forrest City all of his life. Mr. Danehower was a farmer, a member of the Forrest City Lions Club, attended Baylor University and was a member of the Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta Poole Danehower in 1996. Mr. Danehower is survived by one daughter, Berta Ann Elphingstone of Forrest City; two sons, John Cox Danehower Jr. of Memphis and James Poole Danehower of Wynne; one brother, Will Roe Danehower of Arlington, Texas; one sister, Mary Danehower Taylor of Forrest City; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Mr. Danehower will be Monday, April 23, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at 2 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.


Ruth Aycock Haven

Mrs. Ruth Aycock Haven, age 79, of Forrest City, died Sunday, April 22, 2001.

Mrs. Haven was born Nov. 20, 1921, in Hazen. She was the daughter of L.P. Aycock and Mildred Scott Aycock. Mrs. Haven was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Forrest City Junior Auxiliary. She was a Master Flower Show judge and was an honorary member and past president of the Garden Gate Club.

Mrs. Haven is survived by her husband, Henry T. Haven; one daughter, Ann Haven Morledge of Little Rock; two sons, Henry T. Haven of Harrisburg, Penn. and John L. Haven of Jonesboro; one sister, Gerry Aycock Rhodes of Hazen; one brother, Scott Aycock of Hazen; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services are incomplete at this time.


James Daryl Ponder

Mr. James Daryl Ponder, age 33, of Colt, died Thursday, April 19, 2001.

Mr. Ponder was born Jan. 8, 1968, in Fort Sill, Okla. He was the son of James E. and Helen Fleming Ponder. Mr. Ponder lived in Colt most of his life and was a Baptist.

He is survived by a daughter, Miranda Grace Wingfield of Forrest City; his father, James E. Ponder of Colt; his mother, Helen Ponder of Jonesboro; a brother, Kirk Ponder of Wynne; maternal grandparents, Murrell and Mary Quinn of Forrest City; a step-brother, Stephen McWilliams of Jonesboro and a step-sister, Gwendolyn Platz of Jonesboro.

Funeral services for Mr. Ponder were held Sunday, April 22, 2001, at 2 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home. Burial followed at Loughridge Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
