Mrs. Helen Marie Sexton, age 87, of Palestine, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2001.
Mrs. Sexton was born Dec. 30, 1913 in Haynes and was the daughter of Guy Odie Cothran, Sr. and Lela Stanley Cothran. She lived in St. Francis County most of her life and was a retired grocery store owner and a Baptist.
Mrs. Sexton was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Sexton, in 1961, along with one son, Stan Sexton; one step-son, Alex Sexton and one grandson, James Pippin.
She is survived by three daughters, Mary Pippin of Southhaven, Miss., Marie Shelton of Nesbit, Miss. and Claudia Marrs of Palestine; four sisters, Sue Morgenstern of New Matamoras, Ohio, Christine Cothran of Forrest City, Salley Castaneda of Dinuba, Calif and Betty Linnanto of Eugene, Ore.; one brother, W.T. Cothran of Avenal, Calif.; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Sexton will be held Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, at 2 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home with burial following in Johnson Cemetery in Wheatley under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
