Lear Baker

Mrs. Lear Baker, age 79, of Madison, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.

Mrs. Baker, born June 4, 1922, in St. Francis County, was the daughter of Wylie Smith and Mary Martin Smith. She was retired from Sanyo.

Mrs. Baker is survived by five daughters, Lue Vingue Hawkins, Verlean Davis and Alma Wright, all of Madison, Annie Mae Owens and Patricia Smith, both of Stockton, Calif.; four sons, Frankie Baker and Lenell Baker, both of Detroit, Mich., Theodis Smith of Little Rock and Tesell Smith of Kennett, Mo.; two sisters, Rachel Long and Edith White, both of Madison; a brother, James Smith of Washington, D.C.; 32 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Mrs. Baker will be held Friday, Aug. 24, 2001, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Woodhouse Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001, at 1 p.m. at Cornerstone M.B. Church with Rev. Lenell Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Woodhouse Mortuary.


Emma L. Williams

Mrs. Emma L. Williams, age 89, of Forrest City, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.

Mrs. Williams, a retired funeral director, was a member of Christ Episcopal Church. She is survived by two sisters, Minnie Warren and Charlean Carr, both of Forrest City and a brother, Frank Shaw Jr., of Forrest City.

Visitation for Mrs. Williams will be held Friday, Aug. 24, 2001, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001, at 2 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church with Bishop Tom Newman officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.
