Mr. Leon Jinks Jr., age 74, of Texarkana, Texas, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, in a Texarkana hospital.
Mr. Jinks was born July 7, 1927, in Leonard, Texas. He was a retired sales executive of GTE-Sylvania, was a graduate of Hendrix College and was a U.S. Army Veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Jane "Boots" Jinks; two daughters, Jodi Jinks-Lehl of College Station, Texas and Synthia Jinks-Olinger of Albany, Calif.; a son, Mark Jinks of Des Moines, Iowa; his mother, Mary Jinks of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; a brother, Larry Jinks of Los Gatos, Calif.; a sister, Jean Newsum of Ft. Wayne, Ind. and three grandchildren.
A memorial service was held for Mr. Jinks on Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, at the Chapelwood Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. William Ralph "Bill" Routon II, age 77, of Hope, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at his home.
Mr. Routon was born April 22, 1924, in Hope and was the son of the late Ralph Routon and Lillian Carrigan Routon.
He was a 1942 graduate of Hope High School, he served with the U.S. Army Corps in England, attended Henderson College and the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and was a farmer. Mr. Routon was also a board member of the Citizens National Bank for 40 years. He was appointed in 1993 to the state's Red River Commission, was a 16-year-member of the Hope School Board and was also on the board for the School of Hope, a school for handicapped and mentally challenged children. He was also a member of the Yellow Creek Hunting Club of McNab, a Mason, a Shriner, the Rose Hill Cemetery Association and was a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church.
Mr. Routon is survived by his wife Bonnie Anthony Routon of the home; a daughter, Jane Arnold of Little Rock; three sons, Stephen Anthony Routon of Forrest City, William Ralph Routon III of Fort Walton Beach, Fla. and John Graydon Nelms Routon of Hope; a sister, Lenora Cross of Fort Belvoir, Va.; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services for Mr. Routon were held Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001, at the First United Methodist Church in Hope with Rev. Larry Ott and Rev. Ralph Hale officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Herndon Funeral Home.
