Everything is falling into place for Friday's Forrest City football opener against Osceola -- including the arrangements to honor the 1985 Mustang football team.
Forrest City breaks from tradition Friday when they will host Osceola's Seminoles, coached by Forrest City native and former coach Clinton Gore, instead of opening against Wynne, as they have done in past seasons.
Wynne is opening the year on Saturday by playing Shiloh Christian in the Alltel Hooten's Kick Off Classic at Quigley Stadium in Little Rock.
Gore was the coach for the '85 Mustangs, a team which finished undefeated in Class AAAA.
He said recently he is looking forward to returning to Forrest City to play the Mustangs and to take part in the '85 team reunion.
Gore will be joined by Mustang team members Rusty Trail, Eric Roebuck, Kerrie Barden, Freddie McCline, Melvin McCline, Heath Harrison, Hank Collins, Jeff Reeves, Robert Adams, Charles Banks, Sam Gadberry, Steven Ambrose, Douglas Laws and Calvin Chism.
The 1985 team will join the current Mustang team for the pre-game meal at 4 p.m., Friday at the cafeteria before touring the new athletic practice facility.
The team wil be recognized during halftime ceremonies Friday.
Osceola will probably remain a fixture on the Mustangs' nonconference schedule after this season, replacing Marianna.
Wynne returns to its lead off spot next season.
