Mr. Cecil Johnson Elliott, age 85, of Palestine, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, in Liberty, Mo.
Mr. Elliott, born Nov. 7, 1916, was the son of John Francis Elliott and Metilda Ann Craft Elliott.
In 1936, Mr. Elliott married Neva Young and she preceded him in death in 1990. He is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Sue Hoskin of Liberty, Mo.; a son, Gary Neil Elliott of Palestine and three grandchildren.
Visitation services for Mr. Elliott will be held Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services for Mr. Elliott will be held Friday, Dec. 21, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home with burial following in Bell Cemetery. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. William McMorris, age 78, of Forrest City, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at his home.
Mr. McMorris, born Dec. 15, 1923, in Haynes, was the son of Joe McMorris and Annie Ward McMorris. He was a retired custodian with the Forrest City School District for 31 years.
Mr. McMorris is survived by his wife Ettie Mae Hilliard McMorris of the home; five daughters, Amanda McMorris of Forrest City, Ella Conwell of Chicago, Ill., Gladys Harris and Geneva Owens, both of Harvey, Ill. and DeShay Bowman of Memphis; three sons, Jonathan McMorris of Forrest City and Joe McMorris and Willie C. McMorris, both of Chicago, Ill. and 20 grandchildren.
Visitation services for Mr. McMorris will be held Friday, Dec. 21, 2001, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Chapel of Woodhouse Mortuary. Funeral services for Mr. McMorris will be held Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001, at 1 p.m. at United Christian M.B. Church with Rev. Gus Dixon officiating with burial following in Casteel Cemetery. Woodhouse Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Infant Garrett Vernon Parson, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, at the Elvis Presley Regional Medical Center in Memphis.
Garrett is survived by his parents, Kelly Mathews Parson and Greg Parson of the Palestine; maternal grandparents, Frances and James Mathews of Palestine; paternal grandparents Frankie and Sharon Parson, of Moro; and great-grandparents, Zella Lee Mathews of Marianna, Emily Perry of Forrest City, Aaron Perry of Palestine; Virgil and Maxine Johnson and Floyd Parson, all of Moro.
Graveside funeral services for Garrett Parson were held Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, at Oak Grove Cemetery near Moro with Bro. Gene McCain officiating. Morgan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
The family requests that donations be made to the Kelly Mathews Parson Medical Fund at Forrest City Bank in Forrest City in lieu of flowers.
