Mr. Jack W. Gates, age 71, of Plano, Texas, died Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, in Plano.
Mr. Gates was born Oct. 9, 1929 in Memphis. He was the son of Meyer W. Gates and Dora Gates , He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Shirley Gates; a son, David Gates; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service for Mr. Gates was held Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001, the Episcopal Church of the Holy Nativity in Plano, officiated by Father Craig Heenan.
Mrs. Gertis Opil Climer Morrow, age 89, of Pocola, Okla. died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001 at the Pocola Nursing Center in Pocola.
Mrs. Morrow, formerly of Colt, was born April 27, 1911 in Henderson County, Tenn. She was the daughter of Tom Wesley and Sintha Idellar Kennedy Climer. She attended school in the Birdeye community of Cross County. She was a homemaker and a member of Colt Baptist Church.
On Aug. 16, 1940 Mrs. Morrow married William Morris Morrow who preceded her in death in 1990. She is survived by two brothers, Robert Wilson of Fresno, Calif., and Allen Wilson of Knights Landing, Calif.
Funeral services for Mrs. Morrow were today, Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001 in the Chapel of Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Bradley, pastor of Colt Baptist Church officiating. Burial followed in Cogbill Cemetery in Wynne under the direction of Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home of Wynne and McCrory. The family ask all memorials be sent to the Colt Baptist Church in Colt.
