Mrs. Neva Blackard, age 91, of Forrest City, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at St. Benard Hospital in Jonesboro.
Mrs. Blackard was born March 31, 1909. She was the daughter of Robert Delon Frost and Martha Ona King Frost. She lived in Forrest City most of her life, moving here from Clarksville. Mrs. Blackard was a retired school teacher, an artist, and a Methodist.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jackie Blackard, in 1991, and her husband, Marvin Jack Blackard, in 1996.
Mrs. Blackard is survived by a brother, Wylie Frost, of Forrest City; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Blackard will be held on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Morgan Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at 9 a.m., at Morgan Chapel, with the Rev. Rex Darling officiating. Morgan Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m., in Clarksville, at the Oak Land Cemetery, under the direction of Joan Frost Gray-Ehnert.
Mr. Louis Johnson, age 85, of Forrest City, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at his home.
Mr. Johnson was born on July 11, 1915, in Baton Rouge, La. He was the son of Louis Johnson Sr., and Lue Vingue Davis Johnson. He was retired from Vaccaro Lumber where he worked for 41 years.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Lucille Nesbitt Johnson, of Forrest City.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., in the Chapel of Woodhouse Mortuary. Funeral services for Mr. Johnson will be Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, at 1:30 p.m., at Christian Redeeming Spiritual Church, with the Rev. Theodis Cochran officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Woodhouse Mortuary.
Mrs. Castella Williams, age 84, of Forrest City, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at Methodist Hospital Central in Memphis.
Mrs. Williams was born May 12, 1916, in Indianola, Miss. She was a retired farmer.
Mrs. Williams is survived by nine sons, Dunbar Williams, of Detroit, Mich., Leodis Williams, of Forrest City, Herman Williams, Eugene Williams, Howard Williams, Cornelius Williams, all of Chicago, Ill., Leonard Williams, Elisie Williams, Timothy Williams, all of Little Rock; five daughters, Catherine Smith, of Memphis, Stella Howard, of Chicago, Ill., Deloris Stewart, of Little Rock, Lola Hall, Sadie White, both of Cleveland, Ohio; 34 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation services for Mrs. Williams will be Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at 11 a.m., at Salem Baptist Church, with the Rev. Felix Duckworth officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemtery. Clay Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Ethel Williams, age 82, of Forrest City, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
Mrs. Williams was born on Aug. 18, 1918, in Forrest City. She was the daughter of Eddie Williams and Blanch Adams Williams.
She is survived by a son, Roy Burkes, of Madison; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Williams will be held Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Woodhouse Mortuary. Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at 12 p.m., at the United Christian M.B. Church, with the Rev. Leroy Lacey officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery, under the direction of Woodhouse Mortuary.
