Mrs. Nancy Belle Threat, age 84, formerly of Forrest City, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at Oakdale Nursing Home in Judsonia.
Mrs. Threat was born Feb. 20, 1916, in Ozark. She was the daughter of Darch Peeler and Mary Peeler. Mrs. Threat made her home in Forrest City until moving to Cherry Valley. She was a retired LPN and a member of First Baptist Church in Forrest City.
Mrs. Threat was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Threat Sr., in 1958, and a son, Tom E. Threat. She is survived by seven sons, George Threat, of Garland, Texas, John Threat Jr., of Grady, Jack Threat, of Petal, Miss., N.E. Threat, of Rex, Ga., Jerry Threat, of Morrillton, J.B. Threat, of McRae, Sam Threat, of Palestine; four daughters, Elaine Stowell, of Texarkana, Martha Walls, of Forrest City, Mary Alice Stuck, of Eugene, Ore., Dorothy Taylor, of Templeton, Calif.; a sister, Dolly King, of Dekalb, Texas; 23 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Threat will be Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, at 2 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Forrest Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Castella Williams, age 84, of Forrest City, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at Methodist Hospital Central in Memphis.
Mrs. Williams was born May 12, 1916, in Indianola, Miss. She was a retired farmer.
Mrs. Williams is survived by nine sons, Dunbar Williams, of Detroit, Mich., Leodis Williams, of Forrest City, Herman Williams, Eugene Williams, Howard Williams, Cornelius Williams, all of Chicago, Ill., Leonard Williams, Elisie Williams, Timothy Williams, all of Little Rock; five daughters, Catherine Smith, of Memphis, Stella Howard, of Chicago, Ill., Deloris Stewart, of Little Rock, Lola Hall, Sadie White, both of Cleveland, Ohio; a brother, Tom Knox, of Colt; 34 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation services for Mrs. Williams will be Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at 11 a.m., at Salem Baptist Church, with the Rev. Felix Duckworth officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemtery. Clay Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Woody Albert Wofford, age 76, of Toledo, Ohio died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000 at Toledo Hospital.
Mr. Wofford, a native of Widener,was the son of Jerry and Ethel Wofford. He served in the U.S. Army in 1943 and was a retired HVAC/R technician from Lucas County Metropolitan Housing Authority in Toledo where he had over 42 years of service.
Mr. Wofford is survived by his wife, Geneva Wofford; two daughters, Sharon Wofford, of Toledo, Ohio, Carolyn Langseth, of Longview, Texas; four sons, Barry Wofford, Eric Wofford, both of Toledo, Ohio, Shelby Wofford, Richard Wofford, both of Columbus, Ohio; four grandchildren and a great-grandson. He was preceded in death by a brother, Nathaniel Wofford; a sister, Helen Wofford and a granddaughter.
Funeral services for Mr. Wofford were held Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church in Toledo, Ohio with Rev. Raymond Bishop officiating. Burial followed at Woodlawn Cemeter under the direction of Dale Funeral Home.
