Ms. Aretha Sims Harper, age 56, of Madison, died Monday, July 16, 2001, at her home.
Ms. Harper was a factory worker.
She is survived by three daughters, Brenda Scott of Jonesboro, Juanita Sims Bobo of Tyronza and Sondra Granberry of Philadelphia, Pa.; two sons, Oliver Sims and Gary Sims, both of Garland, Texas; five sisters, Clengie Francisco of Malison, Ohio, Verna Sims of St. Louis, Mo., Darlene Sims of West Memphis, Linda Dickerson of Little Rock and Anthalene Bradley of Camden; five brothers, Edward Sims, Jr. and Rufus Sims, both of St. Louis, Mo., Harvey Sims and Exell Sims, both of Little Rock and Terry Sims of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a step-mother, Isabella Sims of Little Rock and 12 grandchildren.
Visitation for Ms. Harper will be Friday, July 20, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Wolfe Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in West Memphis. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 21, 2001, at 1 p.m., at First Baptist Church in Forrest City with burial following in the city of Madison Cemetery under the direction of Wolfe Brothers Funeral Home.
Mrs. Carolyn Cunningham Murry, age 73, of Helena, formerly of Forrest City, died Wednesday, July 18, 2001, at the St. Francis Hospital in Memphis.
Mrs. Murry was born July 1, 1928, and was the daughter of Bernard William Cunningham and Jim E. Burke Cunningham McGehee. She was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Helena.
Mrs. Murry was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edward Murry in 1975.
She is survived by four sons, Thomas Edward Murry and James William Murry, both of Forrest City, Richard Burke Murry of Rochester, Minn. and Robert Spencer Murry of Helena; two daughters, Mary Beth Traxler of Germantown, Tenn. and Carol Estelle Meiers of West Helena; a step-mother, Winnie Wood Cunningham of Helena; five brothers, Bernard Richard Cunningham of Rhone, Texas, Michael Edward Cunningham of West Helena, Charles Patrick Cunningham of Helena, John Kevin Cunningham of Rowlett, Texas and Christopher Andrew Cunningham of Prairieview, La.; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
There will be a Rosary service for Mrs. Murry Sunday, July 22, 2001, at 6 p.m., at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Helena. A funeral Mass will be held Monday, July 23, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Mary's Catholic Church with burial to follow.
The family request memorials be sent in lieu of flowers to the National Parkinson's Foundation, the American Cancer Society or Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Helena.
