Mrs. Mamie Jo Vaughn Hamby, age 87, of Caldwell and Forrest City, died Thursday, July 26, 2001, at her home.
Mrs. Hamby was born April 26, 1914 in Shuqualak, Miss. and was the daughter of the late Henry and Mary Ann Baty Vaughn. She was a resident of Forrest City and Caldwell most of her life and was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Caldwell.
Mrs. Hamby was preceded in death by her husband, James Carlton "Buster" Hamby in 1981; three sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by one son, David Hamby of Palestine; one daughter, Sandra Benson of Caldwell; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Hamby will be held Saturday, July 28, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in Wynne. Funeral services will be Sunday, July 29, 2001, at 2 p.m., at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Myron Shaw officiating the service. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home.
The family request memorials be made to the First Baptist Church in Caldwell.
