Mrs. Dorothy Goacher, age 72, of Hughes, died Wednesday, July 4, 2001, at her home.
Mrs. Goacher, a housewife, is survived by a son, Danny Goacher of Hughes and three sisters, Billie Schell of Jonesboro, Ga., and Winfred Johnson and Frankie Speece, both of Iuka, Miss. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Sanford Goacher; Carl Goacher and Brenda Goacher.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 7, from 6-9 p.m. in the chapel of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home of West Memphis. Funeral services for Mrs. Goacher will be held Sunday, July 8, 2001, also at of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crittenden Memorial Park under the direction of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home of West Memphis.
Lucille Ishmael, age 92, of Palestine, died Friday, June 29, 2001, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-East, in Memphis.
Mrs. Ishmael, born Aug. 16, 1908, in Palestine was the daughter of Charlie J. and Peral Jackson Smith. She was a member of Mount Gillian M.B. Church in Gill where she served as church clerk, Sunday school teacher, youth supervisor, mission president and president of the pastor's aide association. She was a former educator was retired from the Lee County Co-Op Clinic in Marianna.
She is survived by a step-son, Asie Ishmael of Detroit, Mich.; a step-daughter, Ethel Davis of Chicago, Ill.; 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Ishmael; a step-son, Henry Ishmael and a brother, Charlie Smith.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ishmael will be held Saturday, July 7, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Gillian M.B. Church in Gill with Rev. Timothy Smith, officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery in Felton. Branscumb-Johnson-Gilchrest Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Joseph "Joe" R. Myers, age 59, of Moro, died Wednesday, July 4, 2001, at his home.
Mr. Myers, born Aug. 27, 1941 in Crystal Springs, Miss., was the son of Charles Raymond Myers and Billie Butler Myers. Mr. Myers, a Moro resident of 23 years, was a veteran of the National Guard and served in the Vietnam War and was a Methodist. He was a sales representative with Delta Grain in Clarenden and attended school at Delta State in Cleveland, Miss., and at Memphis State University in Memphis and served as owner and manager of Myers Ford Tractor company in Marianna.
In 1975 Mr. Myers married Faye Myers and she survives him along with a daughter; Mandy Faye Myers of Moro; a step son Williams F. Curtis III of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; a step-daughter, Merry Elizabeth Curtis of Ft. Collins, Colo.; his mother; two brothers, Dr. Richard Myers of Springfield, Mo. and Chuck Myers of Carlisle and a sister Sherry Williams of Lepanto.
Visitation services for Mr. Myers will be held Saturday, July 7, 2001, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home with the funeral following at 2 p.m. graveside in Marianna Memorial Park with Rev. Judy Wilson Clark officiating. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family requests that memorials be made to the American Heart Association.
