Mary Ruth Anderson

Mrs. Mary Ruth Anderson, age 74, of Forrest City, died Sunday, July 8, 2001, at Methodist Central Hospital in Memphis.

Mrs. Anderson, born Sept. 22, 1926, in Tyronza, was the daughter of A.E. McCorkle and Myrtle Harmon McCorkle. She was a St. Francis County resident for most of her life and was a retired dietitian and a housewife. She was also a member of Good Hope Baptist Church.

In 1943, Mrs. Anderson married Curtis Anderson and he survives her. She is also survived by a daughter, Debbie Feagin of Bald Knob; a sister, Ruby Ross of Helena; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Randy Anderson, in 1978, and Ricky Anderson, in 1995.

Visitation for Mrs. Anderson will be held Monday, July 9, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral Services for Mrs. Anderson will be held Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.


Jonathan Taylor Sr.

Mr. Jonathan Taylor, Sr., age 54, of Champagne, Ill., formerly of Palestine, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at Provina Hospital in Champagne.

Mr. Taylor, born Dec. 7, 1946, in Palestine, was the son of Pearlie Walker and was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Forrest City.

Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Shirley Webb Taylor of Champagne, Ill.; four daughters, Marion Smith, of Palestine, JoAnn Wilkerson of St. Louis, Mo., Marie Dillard of Caldwell and Rosaland Taylor of Forrest City; a son, Jonathan Taylor Jr. of Decatur, Ill.; a sister, Murline Byers of Forrest City and a brother, Soloman Taylor of Forrest City.

Funeral services for Mr. Taylor will be held Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at 2 p.m. at Williams Temple Church of God in Christ in Palestine with Elder Nathaniel Pendelton officiating. Burial will follow in Jericho Cemetery. There will be a visitation service preceding the funeral from 9:30 a.m. to noon in the Chapel of Woodhouse Mortuary. Woodhouse Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
