Mr. Lewis M. Clark, age 72, of Colt, died Thursday, June 14, 2001, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Forrest City. Mr. Clark was born Jan. 24, 1929, in Caldwell to his parents, Hugh and Marie Hughes Clark. He was a Baptist and the retired owner of Clark's Super Service. Mr. Clark lived in the Forrest City area most of his life.
Mr. Clark is survived by his wife, Pat Hayes; a daughter, Rose France of Wynne; two sons, Donald Clark of Wynne and Barry Clark of Colt; a step-daughter, Janaa Poe of Marianna; a step-son, Ashley Roberts of Brinkley and a brother, John P. Clark; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mr. Clark will be Friday, June 15, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 16, 2001, at 4:30 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home with Rev. Preston Clegg officiating. Burial will follow in Hughes Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Mr. Luther Cline, age 89, of Paragould, died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at Arkansas Methodist Hospital.
Mr. Cline was born Sept. 15, 1911, in Greene County and was the son of Joseph C. and Mae Cline. He was a retired school teacher, farmer, real estate appraiser, built houses and worked at Clyde Mack Clothing Store. Mr. Cline was a member of Warren's Chapel United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Faye Kennemore Cline and by his parents. Mr. Cline is survived by his wife, Arlene Cline of the home; two sons, Billy Cline of Forrest City and Kenny Cline of Paragould; two sisters, Ruby Clark and Norma Carr, both of Paragould; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Cline were held Friday, June 15, 2001, at 10:30 a.m., at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Paragould with Marion Gramling officiating. Burial followed in Warren's Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould.
Mr. Jesse Cross, age 89, died Sunday, June 10, 2001, at his home.
Mr. Cross was born July 14, 1911, in Haynes to his parents, John H. Cross and Margie Brown Cross. He was a wellsman in the Lee/St. Francis County area for many years and was also a deacon at Spring Grove Baptist Church in Haynes.
Mr. Cross was preceded in death by three sons, Jesse Cross Jr., Excil Cross and Algie Cross and siblings Elmer, Cross, Nina Cross, Ellen Cross and Emmett Cross. He is survived by his wife, Junniest Hughes Cross of the home; three daughters, Broxine Green and Claudette Clay of Forrest City and Shirley Nelms of Memphis; two sons, Ulysses Cross of Haynes and John Cross of Memphis; two brothers, Dr. Edward B. Cross of Charlotte, N.C. and Rev. John H. Cross of Decatur, Ga.; 27 grandchildren and a host of great and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mr. Cross will be held Friday, June 15, 2001, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Marianna Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 16, 2001, at 11 a.m. at the Spring Grove Baptist Church in Haynes. Burial will follow at the Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Marianna Funeral Home.
Mrs. Arline Nelson Ivory, age 76, of Forrest City, died Sunday, June 10, 2001, at the Arkansas Hospice Center in Little Rock.
Mrs. Ivory was born Oct. 4, 1924, in Memphis to her parents, Clarence and Tempie Brazile Nelson. She was retired from the Freeman Group, Inc.
Mrs. Ivory was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Nelson Jr. and two sons, McKinley Ivory Jr. and Mack Ivory. She is survived by her husband, McKinley Ivory of Forrest City, six sons, David Avant, Clifton Avant, Johnny Ivory, Jimmy Ivory, Melvin Ivory and Lester Ivory, all of Forrest City; five daughters, Glovia Mae Cunningham of Forrest City, Betty Whittaker of Cave City, Clara Moore of Little Rock, Georgette Ivory of Forrest City, and Ollie Reeves of Virginia; two brothers, Lepoleon Nelson and Robert Nelson, both of Forrest City; five sisters, Alberta Taggart, Clara Fulcher, Ozola Ford, Izola Crum, all of California and Rosie Harris of Chicago, Ill.; 63 grandchildren and 76 great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Ivory will be Saturday, June 16, 2001, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., in the Chapel of Woodhouse Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 17, 2001, at 3 p.m., at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Eugene Reeves officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Woodhouse Morturary.
