Mr. Guy Eugene "Gene" Arnold, Sr., age 67 of Hughes, died Sunday, June 17, 2001, at Crittenden Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Arnold was a service man for Arkansas Power and Light as well as a member of the Red Gum Lodge in Hughes, a 32nd degree Mason KCCH. He was also the city recorder for the city of Hughes and chairman of the administration board of Hughes United Methodist Church.
Mr. Arnold is survived by his wife, Shirley Arnold of Hughes; two daughters, Gwendolyn Galloway of Conway and Dianna Gozcher of Hughes; three sons, Guy Arnold, Jr., of Widener, James Arnold of Morrilton and Don Arnold of Hughes and four grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Arnold were held Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home of West Memphis. Burial followed in Crittenden Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home of West Memphis.
Mrs. Helen E. McCurley Bennett, age 71, of Colt, died Monday, June 18, 2001, at her home.
Mrs. Bennett was born Sept. 28, 1929 and was the daughter of Tony Lee McCurley, Sr. and Nora Virginia Caldwell McCurley. She was retired from General Industries and was a member of the Caldwell Baptist Church, where she was active in the senior citizens group.
Mrs. Bennett was preceded in death by her father and step-father, one brother, one sister and a son, Lester Bennett.
She is survived by her husband, Albert Bennett, Jr. of the home; her mother, Nora Parke of Forrest City; three sons, Harold Bennett of Caldwell, Larry Bennett and Howard Bennett, both of Forrest City; three daughters, Patricia Garrett of Colt, Rhonda Gregory of Luling, La. and Yvonne Crossen of Mesquite, Texas; two brothers, Tony McCurley, Jr., and Paul Parke, both of Forrest City; two sisters, Eloise Rice and Juanita Jountz, both of Illinois; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Bennett will be Tuesday, June 19, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Morgan Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at 2 p.m., at the Caldwell Baptist Church at Caldwell with Bro. Gary Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Hughes Cemetery under the direction of Morgan Funeral Home.
