Larry Little

Mr. Larry Little, age 52, of Forrest City, died Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.

Mr. Little was born Jan. 29, 1949, and was an employee of Sanyo for 33 years. He was the son of Neuvertra Little of Forrest City and she survives him along with two daughters, Kizzy Mack of Jacksonville and Kimberly Maxie of Grand Prairie, Texas; three sons, Derrick Little of Houston, Texas, Larry Lamont Little of Dallas, Texas and Kauwanza Little of Widener; five sisters, Barbara Sandifer, Doris Robinson, Billie Little and Yvonne Williams, all of Forrest City and Gloria Jean Martin of Chicago, Ill., and five grandchildren.

Visitation services for Mr. Little will be held Friday, June 22, 2001, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Kennedy Chapel. Funeral services for Mr. Little will be held Saturday, June 23, 2001, at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church at 507 N. Rosser, with Rev. Charles Latham and Rev. Norris Latham officiating. Burial will follow at Forrest City Cemetery under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.


Milton Powell Remley

Mr. Milton Powell Remley, age 81, of Newport, died Wednesday, June 20, 2001, in Newport.

Mr. Remley, born Jan. 15, 1920, in Marvell, was the son of E.P. and Ruth Remley. Mr. Remley, formerly of Helena, was a graduate of Marvell High School and was a self employed electrician. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Newport, where he was a member of the Methodist Men and Methodist Administration Board. He was a United States Air Force Veteran and served in World War II, the Korean War and the Middle East. He was a member and past commander of the Legionnaires and the D.A.V. and he was also a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion. He served as a Boy Scout leader for over 30 years and was a volunteer fireman.

In 1945 Mr. Remley married Lorraine Bresee and she survives him along with a son, Joseph Remley of White Bear Lake, Minn.; two daughters, Helen Bullard of Newport and Michelle Boyles of Indianola, Miss.; a brother, James Remley of Louisville, Ky.; a sister, Helen Stephens of Forrest City; a granddaughter and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, E.P. Remley, Darrow Remley, Eugene Remley and Joseph Remley and a sister, Norma Remley.

There will be a visitation service, for Mr. Remley, Thursday, June 21, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home. Funeral services for Mr. Remley will be held Friday, June 22, 2001, at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church at Newport with Rev. Larry Martineau and Rev. Roger Glover officiating. Burial will take place Friday June 22, 2001 at 3 p.m. at Marvell Cemetery in Marvell under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home Inc. in Newport.


Alice Washington

Mrs. Alice Washington, age 69, of Madison, died Saturday, June 16, 2001, in her home.

Mrs. Washington was born April 2, 1932, in Newport. She was a retired farmer. She is survived by her husband, John Washington Jr. of the home; seven sons, Johnny Jones, George Washington and Robert Washington, all of Forrest City, Freddie Jones of Memphis, William Washington and John W. Washington III, both of Madison and Eddie Washington of Osceola; six daughters, Mable Nelson and Willeen Covington, both of Hayti, Mo., Mamie Beal and Martha Morrow, both of Widener, Lula M. Washington of Madison and Juanita Hunt of Jonesboro; four brothers, Joe Bob Jones and Walter Jones, both of Hayti, Mo., Jessie Jones of Chicago, Ill., and Dee Jones Jr. of Rochester, N.Y.; four sisters, Pearlie Mae Mack and Lula Mae Olden, both of Hayti, Mo., Ruby Jones of Nashville, Tenn., and Sue Childress of Kennett, Mo.; 150 grandchildren; 100 great-grandchildren and 50 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Mrs. Washington will be Friday, June 22, 2001, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Chapel of Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services for Mrs. Washington will be Saturday, June 23, 2001, at 2 p.m. at Riverside Baptist Church with Rev. Marlon Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Scott-Bond Cemetery under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.
