Paragould sweeps Forrest City in Legion doubleheaders

Paragould spoiled the Forrest City American Legion team's home opener at the Sports Complex Tuesday night, defeating both the A and AAA squads.

The loss drops the A squad to 1-5 for the year and keeps the AAA squad winless at 0-7.

Forrest City will host Jonesboro tonight in an A twinbill starting at 5 p.m.

On Monday, The Blytheville Casons A squad defeated Forrest City, 6-1.

Chad Hardin was the winning pitcher recording six strike outs in six innings. Hardin allowed only one walk.

Bradley Taylor took the loss for Forrest City, pitching six innings and getting four strike outs while allowing one walk.

Forrest City had just four hits against the Casons, all singles.

The Blytheville Casons AAA team took care of Forrest City's AAA squad 15-4.

Sammy Sanchez led the Casons with five RBIs.

Dustin Gore took the loss for Forrest City.

Mark Lewis led Forrest City with two singles.

Following tonight's game, Forrest City will take Thursday off and return to action on Friday when the A squad hosts Searcy for a pair of games at the Sports Complex.


Taylor-Casbeer rebounds after loss with win over M&T Paving

After losing their first game of the season on Monday, Taylor-Casbeer rebounded Tuesday night by handing M&T Paving its first loss of the year.

Taylor-Casbeer scored eight runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to break an 8-8 tie and went on to win 20-14.

M&T Paving put up five runs in the top of the fifth inning and one in their last at-bat in the top of the sixth.

Taylor-Casbeer added four more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to notch the win.

Josh Brock, Zach Trail and Charles Anderson led T-C with four runs each.

Rothulles Steverson and Xavier Clardy led M&T, which slips to 6-1 for the year. Taylor-Casbeer improves to 9-1.

In Tuesday's second game, Lion's Club pulled into a tie for second place in the league standings with a 21-11 win over Dr. Beasley.

Ladarius Hartway scored four times for Lion's Club, 6-1, while Timothy Graham, Jacob Tittle, Jacob Billingsley and Deangelo Lockett scored three times each. Graham homered twice for the winners.

Beasley, 2-8, got three runs from Caleb Sugg and two runs from Chance Vaughn and Kendall Lee.

Brodie Johnson, Zach Doler, Drew Sugg and Quinton Jones scored single runs.


St. John clinches 16-under league title

Dr. St. John clinched the girls' 16-under fast pitch league title Tuesday with a 14-2 win over Food Giant.

St. John is 10-0 for the year with two games left to play.

McDonald's, which defeated Clay Funeral Home 18-7 Tuesday, is in second place at 7-3.

St. John scored five times in the first and third innings and four times in the second, led by Loren Andrews, Kim Hoots, Natalie Nelson, Kara Siler and Amanda Hoots.

Nikki Tripp and Brittani Smith scored single runs for Food Giant, 1-9-1.

McDonald's handed Clay its third straight loss Tuesday getting three runs from Jessica Lewis and two runs each from Casey Qualls, Kylie Moore and Whitney Tracy.

Clay got single runs from Lauren Clark, Kim Hilliard, Angela Williams, Patsy Shafer, Destiny Miller, Andrea Cooper and Veronica Collins.

Clay falls to 5-5-1 for the year.

In the final 16-under game, Sanyo used three runs each from Dana Reeves and Kim Ursery to get past Boar's head 20-16.

Sanyo improves to 4-6 for the year while Boar's Head slips to 3-7 after winning two straight games.

Gabrielle Agnew led Boar's Head with three runs.

12-Under League

In the 12-under fast pitch league, Times-Herald clinched at least a tie for the league title Tuesday night by defeating Children's Clinic 12-5.

T-H improves to 9-0 with three games left to play in regular season.

Giffin's Grins defeated Crowley's 19-5 to improve to 7-3 with two games remaining to be played.

Sara Cate Lewey led T-H with two runs while Rochelle Wilson, Jordan Nelson, Amber Hill, Randal Ross and Sha Neal scored single runs.

Children's got runs from Anna Horton, Lindsay Renigar, Amber Williams and Hannah Davenport.

Giffin's was led by Kemeshia Chism, Ikesha Chism and Lashonda Barton.


Title Company slows down Steven's by taking 5-3 win in 10-under

Title Company scored twice in the top of the sixth inning to break a 3-3 tie and then held Steven's scoreless in the bottom of the inning to take a 5-3 win in Girls' 10-under slow pitch softball Tuesday.

Title Company's win ended Steven's four-game win streak.

Title improves to 8-3 and moves into a tie for second place with Dr. Schwartz, a 20-3 winner over Southern Furniture Tuesday.

Meghan Clark and Kimesha Norris scored the sixth inning runs for Title Company.

Clark accounted for two of the five runs.

Steven's, 4-7 for the year, got runs from Caitlin Hargraves and Mary Hodges.

In other 10-under games, Sanyo stayed undefeated with a 10-1 win over Forrest City Bank, Food Giant downed Mom's 8-1 and True Value edged Walker Insurance 5-4.

Joy Stephens led Sanyo by scoring three runs while Jordan Pentecost scored the only run for FC Bank.

Shanneka Barber singled and scored the game-winning run for True Value in the bottom of the fourth inning to break a 4-4 tie.

Walker scored four runs in the top of the first to lead 4-0, but was held scoreless over the final three innings.

Dr. Schwartz got three runs from Jasmine Rucker and Brittney Tracy in their big 20-3 win over Southern.

Chantrice Mason scored two runs for Southern.

Food Giant got two runs from Chassity Phillips and Mehan White in their 8-1 win over Mom's.

Agalia Richmond scored Mom's only run.


Rotary Club ends slide with win over Vaccaro Lumber

Rotary Club ended a three-game slide Tuesday with a 10-5 win over Vaccaro Lumber in Bambino (11-12) League play.

Rotary scored five runs in the fourth inning to put the game away.

The loss leaves Vaccaro at 4-6 for the year while Rotary improves to 6-4.

Kyle Ramsey and Taylor Clark both homered for Rotary Club.

Will Malone, Cody Flowers, and Justin Day scored single runs for Vaccaro.

Taylor Glass picked up a win Tuesday to move to 4-6 for the year by putting down POPS 7-5. Taylor was led by Josh Lopez and Wilson Parker.

James Green homered for POPS.

POPS scored all five of their runs in the bottom of the second inning to lead 5-4 before Taylor scored three times in the fourth inning to get the win.

League-leading Cochran Auto had an easy time against Taco Bell Tuesday, romping to a 21-3 win.

Cochran improves to 9-1 for the year.

Blake Davis and Kellon Bowman scored three runs each for Cochran while Kentrell Buchanan homered over the fence and scored twice. Taco Bell got runs from Kyle Gaines, Terrence Weaver and Jack Otty, who hit a two-run home run.

Taco Bell falls to 2-8 for the year.

In the final game played Tuesday, Hess Shoes nailed Bonanza 13-1 to improve to 5-5 for the year.

Justin Morgan scored Bonanza's lone run in the third inning.

Chad Doyle scored three times for Hess and homered once.


Bambino 9-10 make up games tonight

The Bambino (9-10) League will play make up tonight at the Sports Complex in games from the May 7th rain out.

McDonald's will take on Napa while Food Giant and Pearson Insurance will play at 6 p.m. Farm Credit battles C.R. Sand and Title Company and Mulay will play at 7:30 p.m.

The Bambino League will play the remainder of the rain out games on Saturday, June 16.


FCity Travelers runners-up

The Forrest City Travelers 11-year-old baseball team finished second last weekend at the Whitehaven Pirates "End of School Blast" tournament played in Memphis. The Travelers lost to the Millington Trojans in the tournament's championship game by a final score of 8-6. Overall this season, the Travelers are 7-11 in tournaments played. The Travelers will compete this weekend in the Millington Trojans' "Father's Day Classic" in Millington. The Traveler team members are Terry Howard, Randy Crawford, Tyrice Bradley, Justin Cochran, Joe DeWitt, Nakieer Barton, James Green, Donnie Willis, Dale Boyd and Chad Doyle, Leonard Banks, Rhett Morphis, Waymon Cochran, team manager and coaches are Jerry Doyle and Joe DeWitt.


Fast pitch clinic scheduled for next week

Rose "Coach K" Kalisak will return to Forrest City next week, June 18-20, to conduct a three-day, fast pitch softball clinic at the Sports Complex for coaches and players.

The clinic will be in session from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., each day, and the fee per child is $90.

Checks may be made payable to Rose Kalisak.

The clinic is limited to the first 50 applicants.

Forrest City switched to fast pitch softball this season for the 12-under and 16-under leagues.
