Mr. Floyd "Skeet" Barber, age 80, of Forrest City, died Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
Mr. Barber was born on Jan. 15, 1921, in Greenbrier. He was the son of Jess Earl Barber and Linda G. Fairchild Barber. Mr. Barber was retired from Eaton Yale and Town and was a veteran of WW II. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Mr. Barber married Robbie Louise Peevey in 1947 and she survives him along with one daughter, Debbie L. Bennett and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Lloyd Barber and one sister, Julia Kathleen Atterberry.
Funeral services for Mr. Barber will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2001, at 2 p.m. in Stevens Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Forrest Park Cemetery, with Stevens Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Jimmie W. Lemons, age 54, of Brentwood, Tenn., died Monday, March 12, 2001.
Mr. Lemons was born Nov. 29, 1946, in Newport. He was the son of Jim Lemons and Audry Balch Lemons. Mr. Lemons was the regional manager for Dollar General Corporation and a member of Brentwood Baptist Church.
He was married to Peggy Roberts in 1965 and she survives him along with a daughter, Janet Lemons Heck of Witchita, Kan.; his parents, Jim and Audrey Lemons of Newport; one sister, Linda Wymer of Jacksonville; three brothers, John Burgin of Little Rock, Charles Burgin of Newport and Randy Lemons of Manila.
Visitation services will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2001, at 11 a.m., at Stevens Funeral Home with Archie Mason officiating. Burial will follow in Hughes Cemetery with Stevens Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
