Annie Burgess

Mrs. Annie Burgess, age 97, of Forrest City, died Saturday, March 3, 2001 at Crestpark Nursing Home.

Mrs. Burgess was a homemaker. She was married to Clarence Burgess and he preceded her in death in 1996. She is survived by one daughter, Ruby Burgess Brooks of Little Rock and a son, Charlie Bedford of Forrest City.

Visitation for Mrs. Burgess will be Friday, March 9, 2001, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Kennedy Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2001, at 1 p.m., at Salem M.B. Church with Rev. Felix Duckworth officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.


Lucy A. Thomas

Ms. Lucy A. Thomas, age 78, of Calumet City, Ill., formerly of Round Pound, died Friday, March 2, 2001, in Calumet City, Ill.

Ms. Thomas was born on Dec. 11, 1922, in Round Pound. She was the daughter of Tom and Hattie Thomas. Ms. Thomas was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Round Pound and later, joined the Ministry of Valley Kingdom Ministries, International in Calumet City, Ill. She had been a seamstress for 45 year.

She is survived by a son, Lee Vertis Thomas of El Paso, Texas; one daughter, Doris Denise Dickerson of Calumet City, Ill.; two brothers, Willis Jackson of Wyatt, Mo. and Tom Thomas of Compton, Calif.; four sisters, Lucinda Johnson, Stella Barton and Augusta Baker, all of Forrest City and Grace Dudley of Cleveland, Ohio and two grandchildren.

Visitation for Ms. Thomas will be Saturday, March 10, 2001 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Ministry of Valley Kingdom Ministries, International in Calumet City, Ill. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in Homewood Memorial Garden Cemetery under the direction of W.W. Holt Funeral Home of Harvey, Ill.


Rev. George Williams

Rev. George Williams, age 81, of Forrest City, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at Veterans Medical Center in Memphis.

Rev. Williams, born May 19, 1919, in Des Arc, was the son of John Williams and Luiza Hayes Williams. Rev. Williams was the pastor of Christ Temple Church of God in Christ in Helena.

Rev. Williams is survived by his wife, Vernice Williams of Forrest City; two step-daughters, Vernita Wright and Patricia Turner, both of Forrest City; two step-sons, Edward Sparks and Casey Sparks, both of Forrest City; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation for Rev. Williams will be Friday, March 9, 2001, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Woodhouse Mortuary. Funeral services for Rev. Williams will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2001, at noon at Days Temple Church of God in Christ in Forrest City with Bishop L.T. Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Paradise Gardens Cemetery in Edmondson with Woodhouse Mortuary in charge of the arrangements.
