Evonna D. Jones

Mrs. Evonna D. Jones, age 77, of Forrest City, died Sunday, May 13, 2001, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.

Mrs. Jones was born May 14, 1923, in Vilonia to Grover Ivern Dallas and Artie Stevens Dallas. She lived in Forrest City most of her life and was a retired school teacher after 42 years with the Forrest City School District. Mrs. Jones was a member of Second Baptist Church, was an Eastern Star and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank "Red" Jones in 1970. Mrs. Jones is survived by her brother, Howard Dallas of Memphis; three nieces, Ginger Howton of Palestine, Deb Walker of Memphis and Susan Dallas of Minnesota.

Visitation for Mrs. Jones will be Monday, May 14, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at 3 p.m., Second Baptist Church with burial following in Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.


Roger Paul Mattioli

Mr. Roger Paul Mattioli, age 70, of Kennesaw, Ga., died Sunday, May 13, 2001, in Atlanta, Ga.

Mr. Mattioli was born June 4, 1930, in Kenosha, Wisc. He was the son of Felix Mattioli and Rose Maritote Mattioli. Mr. Mattioli had been manager of the Paragould and Forrest City Country Clubs. He was a veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church.

Mr. Mattioli is survived by his wife, Marie Hurt Mattioli; a daughter, Michelle East of Kennesaw, Ga.; his mother, Rose M. Mattioli of Kenosha, Wisc.; a brother, Caesar Mattioli of Kenosha, Wisc. and one grandson.

A Rosary service will be held for Mr. Mattioli, Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at 7 p.m.., at Stevens Funeral Home. A Mass will be held Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church with burial following in Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. The family requests memorials be made to the St. Francis Catholic Church or to the American Lung Association.
