David Barnes

Mr. David Barnes, age 69, of Forrest City, died Monday, May 14, 2001, at his home.

Mr. Barnes was born May 25, 1931 in Vanndale and was the son of Truman Dewey Barnes and Pearl Ann Gray Barnes. He lived in Forrest City all of his life and was in construction.

Mr. Barnes was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Mae Staggs Barnes in 1984. He is survived by three sons, Dewey David Barnes of Illinois, Harold Barnes and Phillip Barnes, both of Forrest City; two daughters, June Hill of Wheatley and Gail Howard of Forrest City; two brothers, Thomas Barnes of Forrest City and Kenneth Barnes of Illinois; two sisters, Bobbie Waggoner of Michigan and Betty Barnes of Forrest City; 11 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Mr. Barnes will be held Tuesday, May 15, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services for will be held Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at 3:30 p.m., at Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.


Grace Butler

Mrs. Grace Butler, age 94, died Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at Presbyterian Village in Dallas, Texas.

Mrs. Bulter was born Oct. 28, 1906. She served in the Presbyterian Church in Arkansas for many years along side her husband, the late Rev. Dr. J.W. Butler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Dr. J.W. Butler in 1997. Mrs. Butler is survived by three daughters, Elaine Toney of Forrest City, Carolyn Nisley of Colorado Springs Colo. and Janice Mundy of Dallas, Texas.

Funeral services for Mrs. Butler, were held last weekend in Dallas, Texas.

A.J. "Tex" Hartz Jr.

Mr. A.J. "Tex" Hartz, Jr., age 79, of Forrest City, died Saturday, May 12, 2001, in Memphis.

Mr. Hartz was born July 3, 1921, in Seymore, Mo. He was the son of A.J. Hartz, Sr. and Leona Anderson Hartz. Mr. Hartz made his home in Forrest City all of his life. He was retired. Mr. Hartz was a veteran of W.W.II and a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.

He is survived by one sister, Sara Ann Leatherwood of Houston, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at 2 p.m., at Forrest Park Cemetery with Sister Maxine Vogan officiating under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.


Roger Paul Mattioli

Mr. Roger Paul Mattioli, age 70, of Kennesaw, Ga., died Sunday, May 13, 2001, in Atlanta, Ga.

Mr. Mattioli was born June 4, 1930, in Kenosha, Wis. He was the son of Felix Mattioli and Rose Maritote Mattioli. Mr. Mattioli had been manager of the Paragould and Forrest City country clubs. He was a veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church.

Mr. Mattioli is survived by his wife, Marie Hurt Mattioli; a daughter, Michelle East of Kennesaw, Ga.; his mother, Rose M. Mattioli of Kenosha, Wis.; a brother, Caesar Mattioli of Kenosha, Wis. and one grandson.

Visitation will be held today, Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at 5:30 p.m. before a Rosary service at 7 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home. Mass will be held Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church with burial following in Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. The family requests memorials be made to the St. Francis Catholic Church or to the American Lung Association.
