Carl Thomas Delancey

Mr. Carl Thomas Delancey, age 85, of Lipan, Texas, died Saturday, April 28, 2001, at Keeneland Nursing Home in Weatherford, Texas.

Mr. Delancey was born Oct. 29, 1915 in Bells, Tenn.,the son of the late William Samuel Delancey Sarah Louise Welch Delancey. He was a resident of Cross County for 37 years, until 1995. Mr. Delancey was a rice farmer and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Bramlett Delancey Bryan and a son, Darrell Thomas Delancey.

He is survived by two sons, Carl William Delancey of McCrory and Dennis Elmer Delancey of Forrest City; five daughters, Lavonda Jean Grogan of Hickory, N.C., Wanda Faye Oswald of Los Lunas, N.M., Janet Yuvonne Loos of Saulsberry, N.C., Sharon Lea Backe of Memphis and Phyllis Ann Harwell of Lipan, Texas; 21 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Delancey were held today, Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at Kernodle Funeral Home Chapel in Wynne, with Rev. Arthur Kennedy officiating. Burial followed in Cogbill Cemetery under the direction of Kernodle Funeral Home.
