Mr. William G. Oswalt Sr., age 88, of Forrest City, died Friday, May 25, 2001, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
Mr. Oswalt, born Sept. 15, 1912, in Dundee, Miss., was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Willow Glenn Oswalt. He lived in Forrest City most of his life and was an employee for transporting of gas. Mr. Oswalt was a member of the First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Heustess in 1999. Mr. Oswalt is survived by three sons, Gerald Oswalt, Glenn Oswalt and Ray Oswalt, all of Forrest City; a brother, W.E. "Tiny" Oswalt of Forrest City; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Oswalt were held Sunday, May 27, 2001, at Stevens Funeral Home with burial following in Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ruby Sherrell, age 86, of Forrest City, died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
Mrs. Sherrell, born May 30, 1914, in Forrest City to William Russell Chapman and Neva Lee Chapman, lived in Forrest City all of her life. She was a housewife and a member of Valley View Christian Church.
In 1935 Mrs. Sherrell married Roy Lee Sherrell and he preceded her in death in 1966. She is survived by two daughters, Evelyn Britton and Barbara Goodwin, both of Forrest City; a son, James Vest of Palestine; three brothers, Bill Chapman of Oklahoma, Carl Chapman of Heber Springs and Ray Chapman of Forrest City; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Eugene Vest in 1932 and a daughter, Dorothy Gillilland in 1963.
Visitation for Mrs. Sherrell will be Monday, May 28, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m., in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at 3 p.m., at Valley View Christian Church with the Rev. Gary Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
