Planter's Bank remains unbeaten

Planter's Bank moved to 3-0 for the season Thursday night by taking a 7-4 win over Hunton Office Supply in Junior Babe Ruth League play at the Sports Complex.

Devin McLaurin pitched three innings for Planter's before giving way to Desmond Golatt.

The two combined to hold Hunton to the four runs on two hits while walking six and striking out 10 along the way.

Hunton led 2-0 after the first inning and 3-0 before Planter's scored six times in the top of the fourth inning.

McLaurin scored twice for Planter's while Michael Alston, Tyler Spencer, Jamar Williams, Billy Faulk and Thomas Brown added single runs.

Hunton was led by Avian Wright, Kenyatae Chism and Rashad Green.

Houser's 12, VIPs 4

Houser's scored four times in the top of the second inning to take a 5-2 lead over VIPs Thursday and went on to notch a 12-4 win in Junior Babe Ruth play.

The Houser's team added three runs in the third inning and four runs in the fourth.

Houser's improves to 1-3 with its first win of the year.

Jimmy Aldridge worked the first three innings for Houser's.

Broderick Gray, Cory Ashcraft and Andre Johnson provided the scoring for the VIPs who slip to 1-2 for the year.

Gray and Ashcraft combined for the VIPs pitching assignment.

Fred's 12, Ridout 0

Fred's kept pace with Planter's Bank Thursday, improving to 3-0 for the season, with a 12-0 shutout win over Ridout Lumber.

Fred's scored seven runs in the top of the first inning using four walks and two errors.

Terrance Ware scored twice for Fred's as did Ramsey Gibson and Bradley Moore.

Ridout managed only three base runners for the game.


Mohr scores 50 in big win over Kirby's

Mohr Sports smothered Kerby's 50-8 Thursday night in men's adult softball action at the Sports Complex.

Poison downed SSA 16-14; Sanyo edged Miller 16-11; Food Giant got by Boar's Head 16-14 and Patton defeated F.C. 16-7.

In women's play, Chism moved to 2-0 with a 17-7 win over Purple Haze; Odd Sox downed Super Center 24-1 and Clark Appraisal downed First National 11-10.


Easley Law picks up second win

Easley Law Firm won its second straight game Thursday night to get to .500 for the year at 2-2.

Easley used an eight-run first inning to take a 12-2 win over Farm Bureau.

Devante Mitchell scored three runs to lead the Easley offensive attack.

Mitchell led off the game with a solo home run.

Jerrod Brown and Jarvis Bolden each scored two runs for the winners while James Pendergrass, John Gilbreath, Sam Bailey, Robert Lee and Cory Leslie scored single runs.

A.J. Martin and Brandon Davis scored single runs for Farm Bureau.

Mr. T Auto 12, Joey's Muffler 2

Mr. T Auto won for the first time this season Thursday night, putting away Joey's Muffler 12-2.

Devin Green scored three times and hit two home runs for Mr. T. Auto.

Benjamin Hollowell, Ryan Green and Davyon McKinney each hit home runs.

Blake Lester and Jarki Jackson scored the only two runs for Joey's Muffler.

League play will resume Monday when Taylor-Casbeer takes on M&T Paving at 6 p.m. and Dr. Beasley meets Lion's Club at 7:30 p.m.


C.R. Sand, Mulay stay unbeaten in Bambino League

C.R. Sand and Mulay kept pace with each other Thursday night in Bambino (9-10) League play at the Sports Complex.

Mulay turned back Sanyo 10-9 and C.R. Sand drilled Napa 12-3. Mulay and C.R. Sand are both unbeaten at 3-0 for the year.

In other Bambino games, Food Giant edged McDonald's 9-8 and Farm Credit kept Pearson Insurance winless with a 15-11 win.

Mulay led 3-2 after one inning and pushed their lead to 8-2 after two complete innings. Two runs in the top of the third made it 10-2 before Sanyo scored three times in the home part of the inning to cut the lead to 10-5.

Quintarius Powell and John Jones scored two runs to lead Mulay while Baker Aldridge and Doug Ferguson scored three times each for Sanyo.

C.R. Sand got three runs from Barrett Astin and Brent Devazier to help lead the team past Napa 12-3.

Sand put up two runs in the first, second and third innings to lead 6-1 before pushing five runs across the plate in the top of the fourth inning.

Napa, 2-2 in the league, got a pair of runs from Barrett Beshears and one run from Thurlo Ward.

Food Giant used a defensive stand to hold off McDonald's 9-8 Thursday night.

Food Giant led 9-6 going into the bottom of the fifth inning when McDonald's scored twice to cut the lead to one run, 9-8 with one out.

The game-ending out was made with McDonald's potential tying run was left standing at third base.

Findley Scott Laws led Food Giant, 2-2 for the season, by scoring three times and Blake Duch scored twice.

McDonald's, 0-4 for the year, got runs from Tanner Elliott and Bradley Coleman.

The league will resume play on Monday night.
