Fast-pitch softball clinic set

Rose Kalisak, a former NCAA Division I fast-pitch softball coach, will host a fast-pitch softball clinic on Saturday, May 12, at the Forrest City Sports Complex.

The clinic is open to all participants, ages eight and up, and will run From 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The Forrest City 12-under and 16-under girls' softball teams have made the switch to fast-pitch this season. The primary focus of the clinic will be hitting, bunting, base running and pitching.

Kalisak has more than 20 years experience in fast-pitch softball, having most recently served as an assistant coach at Ole Miss.

Registration will be held the morning of the clinic beginning at 8:30 a.m. and the cost per person is $10.

A coaches clinic will be held on Friday, May 11, at the FCHS indoor athletic complex from 7 until 10 p.m.


Youth games scheduled for tonight

The remainder of the Forrest City youth baseball leagues will open the season tonight and Friday at the Sports Complex.

The Bambino 9-10 League will crank up tonight with four games on the schedule, beginning at 6 p.m., on fields 5 and 6.

The Bambino 11-12 League will open play Friday night.

Also on tap for tonight is the opening games in the Junior Babe Ruth League.

Three games are on tap and will begin at 6 p.m., on fields 2 and 8.

After opening the season with just two games on Tuesday, the Minor League will send the rest of it's teams into action tonight beginning at 6 p.m.

The T-Ball League opened the season Tuesday with an abbreviated scheduled.

The remaining teams will hit the field on Friday, starting at 6 p.m.

The youth girls softball leagues will return to action Friday as well.


LMS champs

The Lincoln Middle School intramural girl's basketball championship team was made up of players Coach Calvin Copeland, Chari Agnew, Patricia Bowers, Chelsey Freeman, Anita McDonald, Astrin Allen, Cierra Coleman, Priscilla Copeland, Tiara Hunt, Rosalyn Wright, Rochelle Merrida, Fareedah Washington, Camellia Stewart and Keiphene Ashcraft.

Runners-Up

The Lincoln Middle School White intramural girl's basketball team was honored recently by the school. They are Coach Sue Harris, Shenika Howard, Dekisha Huff, Jessica Bowers, Tytanna Bunch, Christie Marie Harris, Precious Jones, Latasha Mills, Latasha Howard, Nicole Taylor, Erica Downy, Brenda Hymes, Pamela Bobo and Whitney Lowe.
