Mr. Ignacio "Nash" Cano Sr., age 42, of Palestine, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001.
Mr. Cano was born Nov. 17, 1958, in Mercedes, Texas, and was the son of Jesse Cano and Elvira Lyndecker Cano Mata. He was a senior officer specialist with the Federal Correctional Institute - Forrest City and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of the National Rifle Association, a member of the League of the United Latin American Citizens and a member of the Old Fashion Baptist Church in Palestine.
Mr. Cano was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Cano in 1992.
He is survived by his wife, Ermelinda "Melinda" Cano of the home; three sons, Ignacio Cano Jr. of Hobbs, N.M., Issac Cano and Marcus Anthony Cano, both of Palestine; two daughters, Sonya Cano of Hobbs, N.M. and Sarai Da'vi Cano of Palestine; his father, Jesse Cano of San Angelo, Texas; his mother, Elvira Lyndecker Cano Mata of Big Springs, Texas; two brothers, Ben Cano of Perryton, Texas and Tony Cano of Big Springs, Texas; five sisters, Elvira Cano and Mary Lou Mendez, both of San Angelo, Texas, Jessica Perez and Erma Dawson both of Big Springs, Texas and Mary Ann Coronado of Hobbs, N.M.; and one grandchild.
Funeral services for Mr. Cano will be held Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, at Meyer and Smith Funeral Home in Big Springs, Texas, with burial following in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Big Springs, Texas. Local arrangements are under the direction of Morgan Funeral Home.
The family requests memorials be sent to the National Rifle Association or the Forrest City Bank, designated as a college fund for the Cano children.
Mr. Arvie L. Lile, age 77, of Russiaville, Ind., died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind.
Mr. Lile was born Dec. 27, 1923, in Paris and was the son of Gardner Lile and Ida Lile. He was a retired electrician and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Lile was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Cheyenne, Wyo., and was of the Baptist faith and attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Kokomo, Ind.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Lile of the home; a daughter, Dianna Wilburn of Kokomo, Ind.; two sisters, Marie Ray of Ft. Smith and Mazette Kafer of Henrietta, Okla.; a half-sister, Ann Stovell of Van Buren; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation for Mr. Lile will be Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home Chapel in Kokomo, Ind. Funeral services for Mr. Lile will be held Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, at 2 p.m., at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Steve Pearce officiating the service. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery with military honors conducted by the VFW Post 1152, under the direction of Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home.
