Rosie L. Miller

Mrs. Rosie L. Miller, age 87, of West Memphis, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001, at Crittenden Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Miller is survived by three daughters, Betty Mae Perkins of Earle, Mary Parnell and Voney Mae Jacobs, both of West Memphis; two sons, Henry Miller of Marion and Johnny Lee Miller of Forrest City; 44 grandchildren, 100 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Mrs. Miller will be held Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Anthony-West Memphis Funeral Home Chapel North. Funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, at 12 p.m., at Walnut Grove M.B. Church in Clarksdale with burial in Paradise Garden under the direction of Anthony Funeral Home.


Mervin Calvin Luallen Sr.

Mr. Mervin Calvin Luallen, Sr., age 99, of Forrest City, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, at the Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Mr. Luallen was born Sept. 29, 1902, in Lee County, and was the son of Charles William Luallen, Jr., and Mollie Priscilla Leatherwood Luallen. He retired from the United States Postal Service in 1969, after 37 years of service, operated a small accounting firm and was active in the Forrest City Church of God. Mr. Luallen also served in the United States Navy from 1923 to 1927.

Mr. Luallen married Daisy Perry Luallen and she preceded him in death in 1995. He was also preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by one son, Mervin C. "Buddy" Luallen Jr. of Forrest City; three daughters, Lola Brewer of Pahokee, Fla., Darlene Ball of Tunnel Hill, Ga. and Ruth Madziarczyk of Chicago, Ill.; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Mr. Luallen will be held Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Forrest City Church of God. Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, at 10 a.m., at the Forrest City Church of God, with burial following in Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
