Mrs. Nona Beatrice Ash, age 88, of Memphis, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, at her home.
Mrs. Ash, a homemaker, was a 1933 graduate of Hughes High School and she had been the "Peach Queen" of Arkansas, Tennessee and Mississippi in 1933. In addition, Mrs. Ash christened the St. Francis Bridge.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Edmund Thomas Ash.
Mrs. Ash is survived by one daughter, Dolores Humphrey of Memphis; one son, Tom Ash of Collierville, Tenn.; one sister, Gladys Jones of Hughes; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ash were held today, Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, at 10 a.m., at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel.
