Matlena Jennings

Mrs. Matlena Jennings, age 80, of Forrest City, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001, at her home.

Mrs. Jennings was born Feb. 5, 1921, in Lee County. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Jennings is survived by her husband, John H. Jennings of Forrest City; one son, Wiggins Alexander, Jr., of West Memphis; two daughters, Kathleen Powell and Earnestine Jones, both of Hughes; one brother, William Robinson of Aubrey; one sister, Maria Vasser of Detroit, Mich.; 19 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; 24 great-great-grandchildren and five great-great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Mrs. Jennings will be held Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, from 3 to 5 p.m., at Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at 1 p.m., at Days Temple Church of God in Christ with elder Wiggins Alexander officiating the service. Burial will be conducted in Paradise Garden Cemetery on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at 12 p.m., under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.


Patricia Ann Taylor Thornton

Mrs. Patricia Ann Taylor Thornton, age 37, of West Memphis, died of an apparent homicide, date and place unknown.

Mrs. Thornton was a homemaker and a Baptist. She is survived by her husband, David Thornton of West Memphis; one daughter, Cassie Joanne Cook of Forrest City; two sons, Brandon Cook and Zachary Cook, both of Forrest City; her mother, Bobbie Ann Taylor of Forrest City; one sister, Lisa Gail Gwathney of Harrisburg; and one grandparent, Inez Warren of Memphis.

Visitation for Mrs. Thornton will be held Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, from 6 to 9 p.m., at Roller-Citizen Funeral Home in West Memphis. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at 2 p.m., in the Chapel of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis with burial following in Forrest Park Cemetery in Forrest City, under the direction of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.
