Mr. Lindy E. Philyaw, Sr., age 69, of Holly Grove, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001, at the Veterans Hospital in Kerrville, Texas.
Mr. Philyaw was born June 27, 1932, in Earle, and was the son of Frank and Martha Philyaw. He lived in Holly Grove for the past seven years and was formerly of West Memphis and Forrest City. Mr. Philyaw was a retired construction worker and was a veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Philyaw married Doris A. Frazier in 1952, and she preceded him in death in 1997. He is survived by two sons, Lindy E. Philyaw, Jr., and Mark R. Philyaw, both of Forrest City; his mother, Martha Philyaw of Earle; four brothers, Frank Philyaw, Bobby Philyaw and Henry Philyaw, all of Earle and Jimmy Philyaw of Idaho; three sisters, Grace Rayford, Evelyn Kincaid and Susie Mathison, all of Texas; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mr. Philyaw will be held Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, at 11 a.m. , at Stevens Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crittenden Memorial Park Cemetery in West Memphis under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
