Mr. Nathaniel Hicks Sr., of Forrest City, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001.
Mr. Hicks was born March 1, 1955, in Chicago, Ill., to Lee Ferry Hicks and Bertha Edward Hicks.
He was preceded in death by mother, his step-father, Percell Searcy Sr. and a brother, Felix Searcy.
Mr. Hicks is survived by his wife, Emma Gardner Hicks of Forrest City; three sons, Kendall Davis, Nathaniel Hicks Jr. and Joshua Hicks, all of Forrest City; a daughter, Cheryl Crawford of Forrest City; his father, Lee Ferry Hicks Sr. of Chicago, Ill.; 11 sisters, Versie Austin, Katherine Strong, Lula Champ, Doris Pettus, Shameika Searcy, all of Little Rock, Jacqueline Searcy, Freda Hicks, Sheila Hicks, all of Chicago, Ill.; Carrie Dotson of Cleveland, Ohio, Iniece Searcy of Forrest City and Lydia Coleman of Tulsa, Okla.; nine brothers, Robert Edwards of Phoenix, Ariz., Terry Searcy of Little Rock, Stanley Searcy, Franklin Searcy, Percell Searcy Jr., Leonard Mohammed, Lee Perry Hicks Jr., Christopher Hicks, all of Chicago, Ill. and three grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Hicks will be held Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at 2 p.m., at Salem Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Felix B. Duckworth officiating. Burial will follow in Goodwin Cemetery under the direction of Marianna Funeral Home in Marianna.
Edwin Moore "Sonny" Polk Jr., age 82, died Wednesday in Little Rock following a lingering illness.
He was a native of Helena, the son of the late Edwin Moore Polk Sr. of that city, and had been owner and manager of Mid-South Woodcraft Company in West Helena. He was a veteran of World War II, an avid golfer and sportsman, and a lifelong member of Saint John's Episcopal Church in Helena.
Mr. Polk is survived by a daughter, Carol Polk Lovell of Little Rock, and a son, John Charles Polk of Lake Wales, Florida, several stepchildren and grandchildren.
Visitation for Mr. Polk will be Sunday afternoon at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in Helena, and the funeral will be Monday morning at 10 a.m. at Saint John's Episcopal Church in that city. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in that city.
Mrs. Anna R. Ruggaber, age 88, of Forrest City, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
Mrs. Ruggaber was born March 28, 1913, in Philadelphia, Penn., and was the daughter of Nicholas Yannuzzi and Josephine Iannuzzi Yannuzzi. She lived in Forrest City since 1957.
Mrs. Ruggaber was married to Joseph "Joe" Ruggaber and he preceded her in death in 1968.
She is survived by one daughter, Joanne Astin of Forrest City; one brother, Elmer Yannuzzi of Philadelphia, Penn.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A private service will be held for Mrs. Ruggaber.
The family requests memorials be sent in lieu of flowers to: LeBonheur Children's Hospital, St. Jude, both of Memphis or the Special Olympics - Arkansas-Area VIII in Forrest City.

Mrs. Beulah Mae Waddell, age 87, of Forrest City, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
Mrs. Waddell was born Sept. 7, 1914, and was the daughter of George Reynolds and Susie Hunsicker Reynolds. She worked in sales prior to retirement and was a Methodist.
Mrs. Waddell was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Waddell.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Whitaker of Forrest City; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Waddell will be held Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Morgan Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services for Mrs. Waddell will be Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at 2 p.m., at McGehee Cemetery in McGehee, under the direction of Morgan Funeral Home.
