Mustangs, Lady Mustangs host Cougars Nov. 16 opener

The Forrest City Mustang and Lady Mustang basketball teams will open the regular season on Friday, Nov. 16, at Mustang Arena when they host West Helena.

Before that date, both teams will be involved in preseason scrimmages -- The Mustangs in the Pine Bluff Jamboree on Nov. 10 and the Lady Mustangs taking on the Osceola Lady Indians on Tuesday, Nov. 6 at Osceola.

The Mustangs are coming off a 12-12 season (9-5 in the AAAAA-East) which included a trip to the Class AAAAA state tournament.

Dwight Lofton returns as Mustang coach.

The Lady Mustangs finished 6-15 for the season a year ago which included a 2-12 run in the conference.

Sue Jayroe will once again coach the Lady Mustangs.

Junior High

The Forrest City White Junior Mustangs and Lady Mustangs will open the season on Monday, Nov. 12, when they host Wynne at Mustang Arena.

The White Mustangs are being coached by Sonny Shields while Karen Carrier returns to guide the White Lady Mustangs.

The Blue Junior Mustangs and Lady Mustangs open on Thursday, Nov. 15, at Wynne.

Jimmy Williams returns to coach the Blue Mustangs while Monte Thornton will coach the girls.


Volleyball returns to FCity

Forrest City reinstated its girls' volleyball program this season after three seasons of inactivity in the sport. The team played a shortened junior varsity schedule and will return to a full conference schedule next fall. The Lady Mustang team members are: Tyeshia McDaniel, Hannah McMahand, Tasha Batt, Allison Delaney, Stacey Gracey, Jessica McDaniel, Angela Williams, Kalandra Rucker, Deosha Agnew, Gabriel Agnew, Beth Huckaba and Amber Main is head coach.
