Junior high football teams in action tonight

By FRED CONLEY

T-H Sports Editor

One Forrest City junior high football team will be looking for their first win of the year while the other junior high team looks to continue their winning ways.

Just west of Forrest City, the Palestine-Wheatley Junior Patriots continue their quest toward an unbeaten season and to the East the Junior Blue Devils have the night off.

It all happens tonight.

The White Junior Mustangs (0-4) will take on West Memphis Wonder (1-4) tonight at West Memphis. Wonder's only victory came against Turrell in a nonconference game but are winless in the conference.

The White Mustangs go into the game with several players nursing injuries, including starting tailback Cedric Johnson, who is less than 100 percent.

The Blue Mustangs, meanwhile, are still in contention for the league title, even though they have one conference loss.

The Blue team will host West Memphis West tonight at Sam Smith Stadium with kickoff set for 7 p.m.

A win would set up a showdown next week against league leading Jonesboro MacArthur.

And the Junior Patriots, off to the best start since rssuming their football program in 1994 at 4-0, will host Cross County tonight at Wheatley.

It is homecoming for the Junior Patriots.

The evening begins with a seventh-grade game at 6 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 7 p.m. The homecoming activities will be conducted during halftime.

The Hughes Blue Devils, 4-1, have an open week before hosting England next week.
