Odell Clark

Mrs. Odell Clark, age 84, of West Memphis, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001, at Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis.

Mrs. Clark was a homemaker and a member of Beautiful Zion M.B. Church where she was on the mothers board and a pastor's aide.

She is survived by five daughters, Annie Ruth Clark, Mary Ann Lewis and Vanessa Parker, all of West Memphis, Janice Martin of Chicago, Ill. and Mary Clark Neal of Forrest City; four sons, Harold Clark, Delester Nicholas and Maurice Nicholas, all of West Memphis and Willie Earl Melton of Chicago, Ill; two sisters, Willie Ann Winfrey of Chicago, Ill. and Christine Facin of Memphis; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Mrs. Clark will be held Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Wolfe Brothers Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at 11 a.m., at Beautiful Zion M.B. Church. Burial will follow in Paradise Garden in Edmondson under the direction of Wolfe Brothers Funeral Home, Inc.


Rufus Hicks

Mr. Rufus Hicks, age 65, of Forrest City, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, at his home.

Mr. Hicks, born June 15, 1936, in Moro, was the son of Rufus Hicks Sr. and Juanita Rivers Sloan. He is survived by his wife Ora Lee Hicks, of Colt; five daughters, Rochelle Hicks and Patricia Hicks, both of Chicago, Ill., Inez Turner of Memphis, LeKerial Hicks of St. Louis, Mo. and Mary Hicks of Marianna; six sons, James Hicks of Eldorado, John Mills, of Little Rock, Larry Berry of Palestine, Rufus Hicks III and Curtis Taylor, both of Three Rivers, Mich., and Dana Hicks of Dallas, Texas and 23 grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Hicks will be held Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at 2 p.m. at Goodwin Church of God in Christ with Elder A.D. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Mr. Moriah Cemetery in Moro under the direction of Woodhouse Mortuary.


Meredith Mansel

Mrs. Meredith Mansel, age 75, of Forrest City, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001, at St. Benard's Hospital in Jonesboro.

Mrs. Mansel was born June 19, 1926, in Tyronza, and was the daughter of David Ingram and Mildred Rice Ingram. She lived in St. Francis County most of her life and was a housewife and Baptist.

Mrs. Mansel married Bennie Mansel in 1943 and he preceded her in death in 1989. She is survived by three sons, Roger Mansel, Bennie 'Mike' Mansel and David Mansel, all of Forrest City and five grandchildren.

Visitation for Mrs. Mansel will be held Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at 10:30 a.m., at Stevens Funeral Home with burial following in Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.


Everlyn Simmons

Mrs. Everlyn Simmons, age 49, of Palestine, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001, at her home.

Mrs. Simmons, the daughter of J.W. Hollis and Laura Hollis, was born May 14, 1952 in Magnolia.

Mrs. Simmons is survived by her husband, Clovis Simmons Sr. of Palestine; two daughters, Sylenda Davis of Colt and Tara Mixon of Palestine; five sons, Alexander Mixon of Irving, Texas, Danny Mixon of Forrest City, Antonio Mixon of Hunterville, Texas, Kendell Mixon and Terry Simmons, both of Dallas, Texas; six sisters, Annie Pearl Henderson, Ethel Bible, Glenda Cullen, Maggie Hollis and Debbie Deadman, all of Dallas, Texas, and Margie Simmons of Palestine; three brothers, James Hollis, Jimmy Hollis, Robert Hollis, all of Dallas, Texas and four grandchildren.

Visitation services for Mrs. Simmons will be held Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Woodhouse Mortuary. Funeral services for Mrs. Simmons will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at 2 p.m. at Home's Near Church in Magnolia with Rev. Thomas Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia under the direction of Woodhouse Mortuary.
