Ruby Jean Dent

Ms. Ruby Jean Dent, age 40, of Forrest City, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2001, in Forrest City.

Ms. Dent was born Oct. 26, 1960, in Forrest City and was the daughter of John Dent and Ophelia Anthony Davenport.

She is survived by three sons, Tony Dent, Colby Dent and Tajuan Dent, all of Forrest City; her mother, Ophelia Davenport of Forrest City; nine sisters, Judy Trice, Ruth Welch, Georgia Goss and Betty Alexander, all of Little Rock, Johnnie Mae Hall, Grace Dent, Florence Davenport and Mary Dent, all of Forrest City, and Zizie Akins of Syracuse of New York; five brothers, M.C. Smith, Jr., John Davenport and Dino Dent, all of Forrest City, Roy Lee Davenport of Little Rock and Akie Dent of New York, N.Y. and three grandchildren.

Visitation for Ms. Dent will be held Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Woodhouse Mortuary. Funeral services will be Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001, at 1 p.m., at New Light M.B. Church with Rev. Jessie McClure officiating the service. Burial will follow in Forrest City Cemetery under the direction of Woodhouse Mortuary.


A.D. Nuckolls

Mr. A.D. Nuckolls, age 80, of Bull Shoals, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001, at Baxter Manor Nursing Home.

Mr. Nuckolls was born on July 6, 1921, in Brinkley, and was the son of the late Adolphus and Beulah Varner Nuckolls. He was a salesman of two-way radios and was a flight instructor for the U.S. Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Nuckolls was also a member of the Bull Shoals United Methodist Church and was a past president in organizations of the Bull Shoals Fire Auxiliary, Sahara Temple Shriners in Forrest City and Bull Shoals Rotary Club. He had been past senior board member of the Baxter County Regional Hospital and past executive director of the Bull Shoals White River Association.

Besides his parents, Mr. Nuckolls was preceded in death by his wife, Emogene Gregory Nuckolls.

He is survived by one daughter, Rita Darling of Bull Shoals; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services for Mr. Nuckolls will be held Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, at 2 p.m., at the Bull Shoals United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be held the same day starting at 12 p.m. until the time of the service under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Mountain Home.

The family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of the Ozarks or to the Bull Shoals Rotary Scholarship Fund.


Pauline Payne

Mrs. Pauline Payne, age 71, of Southaven, Miss., died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001, at Baptist Progressive Care in Southaven.

Mrs. Payne was a homemaker and a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James William Payne.

She is survived by one son, Ronald Lewis Payne of Southaven, Miss.; three sisters, Jacqueline Milton of Wynne; Helen Slough and Marjorie Ramsey, both of Portageville, Mo.

Funeral services for Mrs. Payne will be held Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, at 3 p.m., at Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven, Miss. Burial will follow in Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens.
