Geraldine 'Glen' Giles

Mrs. Geraldine Giles, age 79, of Palestine, died Friday, March 29, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.

Mrs. Giles, born April 27, 1922, in Crosby, was the daughter of John Branscomb and Nora Dell Ray Branscomb. She lived in eastern Arkansas for most of her life and was a housewife and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

In 1937 Mrs. Giles married Rev. Glen Giles and he preceded her in death in 1987. She is survived by two sons, Carl Giles of Forrest City and Wayne Giles of Berryville; two daughters, Linda Wood of West Memphis and Judy Jayroe of Palestine; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren, Collier Shaw Fisher and Addison Gray Erwin.

Funeral services for Mrs. Giles were held today, Monday, April 1, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Burial followed at Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

The family requests memorials be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church.


Daniel Ray Hart

Mr. Daniel Ray Hart, age 31, of Palestine, died Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at his home.

Mr. Hart, born Oct. 1, 1970, in Little Rock and was the son of Loyd Hart Sr. and Shirley Temple Robinson Hart. He worked in construction and was a member of the Church of God.

He is survived by his mother; a daughter, Katie Ray Hart, of Conway; five brothers, Loyd Hart Jr., Nelson Hart, Joe Hart and Robert Hart, all of Palestine and Gary Hart of Dewitt; eight sisters, Debra Armstrong of Dewitt, Wanda Greene of Clarendon, Kay Ballard of Cotton Plant, Lynn Ortiz of Moro and Marjorie Hutchinson, Betty Hart and Tina Pate, all of Palestine and Linda Ortiz of Rogers; three step-brothers, Carl Hankins Jr. of Miami, Fla., Johnnie Hankins and Tommy Hankins, both of Forrest City and a step-sister, Lavon Hankins of Miami, Fla.

Funeral services for Mr. Hart were held, Saturday, March 30, 2002, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in Marianna with Rev. Bill Thomason officiating. Burial followed in Marianna Memorial Park under the direction of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home of Marianna.


Leon Ray Helms

Mr. Leon Ray Helms, age 75, of Paragould, died Friday, March 29, 2002.

Mr. Helms, born Aug. 12, 1926, was the son of Herbert Helms and Opal Blount Helms. He was a car salesman and a member of the Marion Church of Christ. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Helms is survived by his mother, of Paragould; two sons, Jerry Helms of Cheney, Wash. and Gene Helms of Andover, Kan.; two daughters, Judy Knight of Beech Grove and Jane Taylor of Paragould; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services for Mr. Helms were held today, Monday, April 1, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Morgan Chapel. Burial followed at Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Morgan Funeral Home.


Christopher Lee Leary

Mr. Christopher Lee Leary, age 21, of Forrest City, died Thursday, March 28, 2002.

Mr. Leary, born Nov. 15, 1980, in Indianapolis, Ind., was the son of Hank and Marieanneai Henley Leary. He was employed by Food Giant and was a Baptist by faith.

Mr. Leary is survived by his parents, a brother, Michael Leary, of Indianapolis, Ind. and a sister, Tina Leary, of Greenville, Ind.

Funeral services for Mr. Leary were held, Sunday, March 31, 2002, at Morgan Chapel with Bro. Gary Chapman officiating, assisted by Bro. Ron Coats. Burial followed at Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Morgan Funeral Home.
