Mrs. Mary Lee Martin Courtney, age 95, of Widener, died Friday, April 26, 2002, at her home.
Mrs. Courtney, born Feb. 15, 1907, in Cross County. She was the daughter of Pence Andrew Martin and Sarah Dickerson Martin. She made her home in Widener of the past 36 years. She was a housewife and a member of Forrest City Church of God.
In 1927 Mrs. Courtney married George Courtney and he preceded her in death in 1976. She is survived by three daughters, Dorothy White and Frances Gasaway both of Widener, Louise Clemons of Marianna ; two sons, Richard Courtney of Lubbock Texas and Carroll Courtney of Scobey, Miss.; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Courtney were held Monday, April 29, 2002, at 10 a.m. at the Forrest City Church of God with Rev. Chelch Reagan and Rev. Ken Wall officiating. Burial followed in Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Forrest City Church of God.
Mrs. Melba Wallace of Forrest City, died Sunday, April 28, 2002, at her home.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wallace will be held graveside, Wednesday, May 1, 2002, at 10 a.m. at Forrest Park Cemetery. Visitation services for Mrs. Wallace will be held Tuesday, April 30, 2002 from 6 to 8 p.m. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. James F. Wall, aged 64, of Forrest City, died Saturday, April 27, 2002 in Forrest City.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen G. Wall of Forrest City; two stepdaughters, Rose Campbell of Forrest City and Mary Ayers of Jones, Okla; a stepson, Thomas Campbell of Hughes; a sister, Betty Wall of Memphis; five brothers, Ted Wall of Silverthane, Colo., Johnny Wall of Rockville Md., Thomas Wall of Illinois, Thomas Wall of Noveta, Mich. and Paul Wall of Carptentville, Ill.; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be today, Monday, May 29, from 5-8 p.m. at Roller Citizens Funeral Home of West Memphis. Funeral services will be held at graveside on Tuesday, April 30, 2002, at 2 p.m. in Hughes Cemetery in Forrest City, under the direction of Roller Citizens Funeral Home.
Mrs. Vera Wright, age 82, of Bruceton, Tenn., died Sunday, April 28, 2002.
She was preceded in death in 1985 by her husband, Rev. Eugene Wright, former pastor of Goodwin Baptist Church and Palestine Baptist Church.
She is survived by five sons, Billy Wright and Jimmy Wright of Camden, Tenn., Sherman Wright of Huntingdon, Tenn., Shelby Wright of Palestine and Jerry Wright of Chickasha, Okla.
