Sarah E. Hayes

Mrs. Sarah E. Hayes, age 59, of West Memphis, formerly of Chatfield, died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis.

Mrs. Hayes was a cashier at Howards Donuts.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Hayes.

Mrs. Hayes is survived by three daughters, Dianna Dennison of Hughes, Sherry Dennison of Horn Lake, Miss. and Terry Smith of Sheridan; two sons, Tony Dennison of Marion and Sonny Hayes of Batesville; one sister, Anna Livingston of Indianapolis, Ind.; four brothers, Richard Hartloff and David Hartloff, both of Indianapolis, Ind., Russell Willis of Pensacola, Fla. and Clarence Willis, Jr.; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation for Mrs. Hayes will be conducted on Thursday, April 4, 2002, from 5 to 9 p.m., at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis. Funeral services for Mrs. Hayes will be conducted Friday, April 5, 2002, at 3 p.m., at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home, with burial following in Crittenden Memorial Park Cemetery in Marion under the direction of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.


Robert Lee Rhodes

Mr. Robert Lee Rhodes, age 49, of Forrest City, died Thursday, March 28, 2002, at his home.

Mr. Rhodes, born Oct. 7, 1952, in Forrest City, was the son of Joe Rhodes Sr. and Freddie Mae Diggs Rhodes.

Mr. Rhodes was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Joe Rhodes Jr.

He is survived by a son, Demone Rhodes of Little Rock; three sisters, Annie F. Brown of Arlington, Va., Freddie Jean Cross of East St. Louis, Ill. and Alvina Rhodes of Forrest City; four brothers, James Rhodes of Forrest City, Calvin Rhodes of Oakland, Tenn., Lee Andrew Rhodes of Los Angeles, Calif. and Albert Rhodes of Memphis; and one granddaughter.

Funeral services for Mr. Rhodes will be held Saturday, April 6, 2002, at 1 p.m. at Summerfield M.B. Church with Rev. Willie C. Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest City Cemetery under the direction of Woodhouse Mortuary.


Eugene Rooks

Mr. Eugene Rooks, age 62, of Memphis, died Saturday, March 30, 2002, at Methodist Hospital-South in Memphis.

Mr. Rooks, born July, 10, 1939, in Forrest City, was a 1957 graduate of Lincoln High School and a had served as a coach at Lincoln High School, Forrest City High School, the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff and with the Memphis City Schools prior to his retirement in October.

Mr. Rooks is survived by his wife, Bettye Rooks, of the home; four daughters, Deborah Beasley of Chicago, Ill., Philita James and Kourtnee Rooks, both of Little Rock and Yolanda Rooks of Memphis and five grandchildren.

Visitation services for Mr. Rooks will be held, Thursday, April 4, 2002, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Chapel of Clay Funeral Home. A second visitation will be held Friday, April 5, 2002, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., at St. Luke A.M.E. Church. Funeral services for Mr. Rooks will follow at noon at St. Luke A.M.E. Church with Rev. E.J. Outley officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.


Charles Whitsell

Mr. Charles Whitsell, age 54, formerly of Forrest City, died Wednesday, April 3, 2002, at a Texas hospital.

Mr. Whitsell was retired from H.E.B. Hospital with 10 years of service and from Lennox Air Conditioning after 23 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Lorraine Whitsell; one son, K.C. Whitsell; two daughters, Kimberly Burkhardt and Kelli Cole; three sisters, Teresa Crities, Kerry Ellison and Sherry Hartman; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation for Mr. Whitsell will be conducted on Friday, April 5, 2002, from noon to 8 p.m., with the family receiving guest from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Lucas Funeral Home, located at 1321 Precinct Line Rd., Hurst, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2002, at 10 a.m. at Lucas Funeral Home, with burial following in Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Lucas Funeral Home.
