Mrs. Lola Mae Baty, age 86, of 315 Concord in Forrest City, died Monday, April 8, 2002 at Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis.
She was born Jan, 24, 1916 in the Newcastle Community, the daughter of Turley Davis and Viola George Davis. She was postmaster of Madison for more than 40 years and was a member of the Eastern Star and a member of Madison Baptist Church.
In 1934, she married John Robert Eppes, who preceded her in death in 1955. She was also preceded in death by her second husband, Woodrow Baty.
Mrs. Baty is survived by two daughters, Viola Hollowell and Linda Horton, both of Forrest City, a sister, Vera Dearing of Newcastle, seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2002, from 6 - 9 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at Stevens Funeral Home, with burial following at Forrest Park Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Madison Baptist Church or Bethel Baptist Church.
Mr. Malcolm "Jiggs" Gorman Jr., age 77, of Forrest City, died Friday, April 5, 2002 at his home in Forrest City.
He was born April 12, 1924, in Pine Tree, and was the son of Malcolm O. Gorman Sr. and Myrtle Estelle Collier Gorman. He lived in St. Francis County most of his life, was a welder and blacksmith, and was a member of the Village Creek Baptist Church.
In 1986, Mr. Gorman married Frances Feltman, who survives him along with two daughters, Sandy Holland of Ravenden and Coretta Lassise of Aurora, Colo.; five stepdaughters; a brother, Jerry O. Gorman of Forrest City; two sisters, Mildred Jean Barker of North Little Rock and Betty Kirby of Forrest City, six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Gorman were held at Village Creek Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Monday, April 8, 2002, with burial in Forrest Park Cemetery. Memorials are to be made to Village Creek Baptist Church. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Norma Jean McClintock Hambrick, age 71, a lifelong resident of Vanndale and Cherry Valley, died Friday, April 5, 2002 at Crossridge Community Hospital in Wynne.
Mrs. Hambrick was the daughter of William Guy and Bertie Carter McClintock. She was a retired line inspector at Sanyo Manufacturing Co., and a Baptist.
She was married to Howard Mitchell Hambrick, who preceded her in death in 1978. She is survived by a son, Rick Hambrick of Cherry Valley; a daughter, Kim Crumbley of Metropolis, Ill.; a brother, John McClintock of Searcy; five grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Carol Leech; a sister Helen McClintock and a brother, Bill McClintock.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 8, 2002 at 10 a.m. at the Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in Wynne. Burial followed at Akin Cemetery near Vanndale, under the direction of Thompson-Wilson Funeral Homes.
