BLYTHEVILLE -- For four innings, the Forrest City Mustangs had Blytheville right where they wanted them -- trailing 1-0.
Then they had to play the fifth inning which saw Blytheville plate five runs.
"It's the same old story," said Forrest City Coach Reggie Murphy. "One inning and we lose the lead and then the game."
Murphy's Mustangs have had too many of those "one innings" so far this season as the Mustangs fall to 3-6 overall and 0-3 in the AAAAA-East after Tuesday's 6-2 loss to the Chickasaws.
Forrest City took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning when Rashad Williams walked and scored on a base hit by Chris Autry.
The Mustangs held onto the one-run lead with Colby McKennon on the mound until the fifth.
Using four hits and three walks, Blytheville pushed five runs across the plate to take a 5-1 lead and chase McKennon to bring on Desmond Golatt and Dustin Gore.
They added a single run in the sixth for a 6-1 lead and the Mustangs added a second run in the top of the seventh when Autry singled and scored.
The Mustangs scored their two runs on seven hits.
The Mustangs are back in conference action on Friday, when they host the Jacksonville Red Devils for a varsity doubleheader, beginning at 4:30 p.m., at the Sports Complex.
