Jeff Able

Mr. Jeff Able, age 96, of Earle, died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at his home in Earle.

Mr. Able, a retired farmer, was a member of the Earle First Assembly of God Church and a past member of the St. Francis County Farm Bureau. He also served as a board member of the St. Francis County Farmers Co-op and the Black Fish Lake Lions Club.

Mr. Able is survived by his wife, Stella May Forrester Able of Earle; one daughter, Sarah Ferguson of Heth; two step daughters, Bettye Forrester Smith of Jacksonville, Fla. and Marie Forrester Almond of Russellville; two sons, Tommy Able of West Memphis and Billy Able of Heth; a step son, Gene Forrester of Cherokee Village; three sisters, May Hammons of Millington, Tenn., Bee Conzone of Evans Mountain, N.C. and Dorothy Kinard of Grubbs; three brothers, Dan Able of Bradenton, Fla., Roy Able of Munford, Tenn., and Richard Able of Tacoma, Wash.; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a wife, Clara Lorene Able.

Funeral services for Mr. Able will be held Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, in the Chapel of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis, with burial following in Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion. Roller-Citizens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The family requests all memorials be sent to the American Heart Association or Haven Hospice.


Hattie "Bebop" Farrish

Mrs. Hattie "Bebop" Farrish, age 82, of Forrest City, died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Forrest City.

Mrs. Farrish, born Dec. 2, 1919, in St. Joseph, La., was the daughter of Tom Ivory and Christine Farrish. She is survived by six nieces, Ruby Rogers of Lake View, Mattie Hall and Mary Elizabeth Hall, both of St. Louis, Mo., Jessie Mae Anderson of Rochester, N.Y., and Sherry Bateman and Mary Hall, both of Chicago, Ill., and two nephews, Frank Jefferson and Willie Jefferson, both of St. Louis, Mo.

Visitation services for Mrs. Farrish will be held Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Woodhouse Mortuary. Funeral services for Mrs. Farrish will be held Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Woodhouse Mortuary with Rev. S.W. Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Woodhouse Mortuary.


Bob K. McKenzie

Mr. Bob K. McKenzie, age 87, of Hughes, died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at his home in Hughes.

Mr. McKenzie, born Oct. 21, 1914, in Booneville, was the son of James Franklin McKenzie and Dora Williams McKenzie.

In 1940 Mr. McKenzie graduated from the University of Arkansas and moved to Hughes to teach agriculture and farm. He was a Mason and a member of First Baptist Church of Hughes, where he served as a deacon. He served as a member of several boards including the Hughes School Board, where he served for 16 year and the East Arkansas Community College Board. He was a Hughes City Council member for 28 years and served on the Hughes Grainery Board and the Baptist Memorial Hospital Board. He also served as a member of the Arkansas Cotton Council and a Rotarian. He was the 1983 Farm Bureau outstanding senior farmer as well as a Paul Harris Fellow.

In 1939 Mr. McKenzie married Marry Kelly and she survives him along with three daughters, Margaret Herzfeld of Benton, Carole Parsley of Crofton, Md. and Kathy McKenzie; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son 1996, Bob Kelly McKenzie.

Funeral services for Mr. McKenzie were held today, Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Burial services were held at 3 p.m. today, at Sheridan Cemetery in Sheridan under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Xavian Linwood Otha Strong

Xavian Linwood Otha Strong, age 5, of Little Rock, died on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002. Xavian, born Aug. 3, 1997, was the son of Tracey Strong. He attended Tru-Care Development Center and was a kindergartner at Badgett Elementary.

Xavian is survived by his mother, a sister, Zalakia Jordan; his grandparents, Michael and Linda Miles; a grandfather, Sam Strong; and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, Otha and Georgia Lee Ford.

Visitation services for Xavian Strong will be held Tuesday, August 27, 2002, at Robinson Mortuary, Inc. in North Little Rock, from noon to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, at the Greater Paradise Church in Little Rock, with Rev. Bruce Murry officiating. Burial will follow at Casteel Cemetery in Forrest City under the direction of Robinson Mortuary, Inc.
