Forrest City, Palestine-Wheatley and Hughes will all be involved in this week's schedule of benefit football games.
The football games will serve two purposes -- as preseason scrimmages for the teams involved and will also raise funds for the purchase of liability/lifetime catastrophe insurance for the Arkansas Activities Association member high schools.
Admission to all of the benefit football games is $4 for adults and $3 for students.
The games are either jamborees including three or more teams or two team contests.
The Forrest City Mustangs will take part in a three-team jamboree at West Helena Tuesday (Aug. 27) which will also include Brinkley.
The jamboree is schedule to kickoff at 6 p.m.
"We'll play a lot of people Tuesday in the scrimmage," said Forrest City Coach Donnie Willis. "While we have a lot of the positions nailed down, there are still some good battles going on between several players for the other positions. We hope the scrimmage goes a long way in showing us who we need to put where."
The Forrest City Blue Junior Mustangs will play at Osceola Junior High Tuesday and the Hughes junior and senior high Blue Devils will play at Trumann while the Palestine-Wheatley junior and senior high Patriots will travel to Clarendon.
The Forrest City Mustang Athletic Booster Club will hold its first meeting of the year tonight at 6:30 p.m., at the Forrest City High School Lecture Hall. Everyone is invited.
Four Forrest City youth football teams will take the fiedl at Sam Smith Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 31, for a two-game jamboree.
The Razorbacks, Gators, Steelers and Ponies -- all members of the East Arkansas Youth Football Association League -- will be involved.
The two-game set begins at 4 p.m. and will feature the Razorbacks taking on the Gators and the Ponies going against the Steelers.
