The Forrest City Mustangs worked through an orientation process Monday morning as players reported for the first day of football drills.
"Basically, we're just meeting and taking the players through a question and answer time," said Mustang Head Coach Donnie Willis.
After a group meeting, the Mustangs divided into groups for more teaching.
Willis said the team will practice tonight at 6 p.m. and then will begin on field practice sessions Tuesday.
The Mustangs will put the pads on for the first time on Aug. 15 and will scrimmage at West Helena on August 27.
Forrest City opens the season on Sept. 6, when they travel to Wynne for the first of three nonconference games which include Marianna and Osceola.
The Mustangs are picked by Hooten's Arkansas Football to finish seventh in the eight-team AAAAA-East Conference this season, which loses members Sylvan Hills and Little Rock Mills while picking up Searcy and Mountain Home this season.
Willis is being assisted this season by Jeff Hudson, Stan Gardner, Reggie Murphy, Monty Thornton, Chuck Sartin, John Burgess and Kenny Gahr.
LITTLE ROCK -- The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has given Arkansas a maximum 60-day season and a six-bird bag limit for the 2002-2003 waterfowl-hunting season.
The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will vote on Arkansas' season at its Aug. 15 meeting in Little Rock.
The Arkansas commission is considering proposals on waterfowl seasons of two lengths, 45 days and 60 days.
Officials have said the duck population will suffer if the state has a full duck season.
The duck population has been declining the last several years, and state and federal authorities say it may be necessary to shorten the season to stabilize the population.
