PINE BLUFF -- Arkansas Concrete won the ASA Men's Softball Class E state title last weekend in Pine Bluff, but that doesn't mean the team has completed the season.
At least one more major tournament awaits the team -- the USSSA Nationals to be held Aug. 31-Sept. 1 at the Sherwood Complex.
Arkansas Concrete, formerly a league and tournament team in the Forrest City adult men's league, became strictly a traveling tournament team this year with a great deal of success.
Prior to winning the E state championship, Arkansas Concrete finished second in the USSSA State Tournament played at Vestal Park in Little Rock July 27-28. The team finished 5-2 after falling into the loser's bracket in the third game with a loss to Pepsi. Arkansas Concrete took the rematch against Pepsi in the loser's bracket final before losing to the Conway Reds in the championship game.
In the E state tournament, the team went undefeated to take the title, putting away Hawgs Illustrated and Pepsi to get to the championship game.
Hawgs Illustrated worked their way back into the finals only to lose to Arkansas Concrete a second time 18-7.
In the past three tournament appearances, Arkansas Concrete has put together an 18-4 mark.
The team includes Palestine-Wheatley football coach Terry Farmer.

Barnes Timber won twice Thursday night -- no real surprise there -- while M&T Paving won once which was enough.
The two Barnes victories -- 29-15 over Gym 2000 in the completion of a suspended game from July 18 and a 15-3 win over TSM Computers -- leaves the league champions at 23-0 for the year with one game to play.
M&T, which will be Barnes' final opponent on Monday, Aug. 12, handed Gym 2000 a second loss Thursday to move into sole possession of second place in the league standings.
Should M&T fall to Barnes on Monday and Gym 2000 put down Kerby's in their final matchup, the two teams would end the year sharing second place honors.
Sanyo dropped to fourth Thursday after losing to Kerby's 21-4.
Kerby's, who won for the third straight time Thursday, is fifth in the league headed into Monday night's final round of games.
After Kerby's downed the Bulldogs 15-5 Thursday before knocking off Sanyo.
Boar's Head picked up a 13-8 win over Greg's Thursday while the Young Guns kept Food Giant winless for the year with a 15-4 victory.
In the final game, the Bulldogs rebounded from a loss against Kerby's to edge Miller Insurance 7-6, snapping Miller's five-game winning streak.
Morgan had the night off but will close out the year Monday against Miller.
*The Forrest City Police and Fire Department sponsored Red, White & Blue men's softball tournament will be played Saturday (Aug. 10) at the Sports Complex.
At press time, 10 teams had entered the double elimination bracket including five from Forrest City.
The tournament begins at 10 a.m. Saturday and will continue until approximately 8 p.m., when the final championship game will be played.
