WEST MEMPHIS -- The Forrest City Blue Mustangs suffered their first loss of the year Monday night in a game the team should have won.

The Blue Mustangs missed a wide open layup with seconds remaining against West Memphis Wonder in a AAAAA-East Conference matchup at West Memphis.

That missed opportunity, combined with having a second layup attempt cleanly blocked helped Wonder hold on for a 38-36 win.

Forrest City falls to 6-1 for the year and 1-1 in the league.

"We broke down late in the game," said Coach Jimmy Williams. "I guess we just gave the game to them."

'Nough said.

Forrest City led 13-10 after the opening period and pushed their lead to 23-18 at the half.

Wonder began to chip away at the Forrest City lead in the third and trailed by four, 34-30 to begin the fourth period.
