Forrest City hosts Yellowjackets tonight

The Forrest City Mustang and Lady Mustang basketball teams will host Wynne tonight, at Mustang Arena.

It is the first of two nonconference games between the two teams.

The Mustangs will be looking for their second win of the season and are coming off a 41-40 loss to Sylvan Hills on Monday.

The Lady Mustangs will be trying to move one game over .500 for the season. Sitting at 4-4, the Lady Mustangs defeated Sylvan Hills 72-50 Monday night.

While the Mustangs will be idle during the Christmas break, the Lady Mustangs will play in the Conway tournament, beginning on Thursday, Dec. 26.

Also tonight, the Hughes teams will host Cross County for a three-game set beginning at 5 p.m.The Hughes senior girls will open play in the annual NEA tournament at Jonesboro, Saturday, Dec. 21, when they play Lynn at 12 noon.

The Blue Devils will start their NEA run on Monday, Dec. 23, when they play the Black Rock/Sloan Hendrix winner at 12 noon.

The Palestine-Wheatley teams will host Cotton Plant tonight before opening play next week at the 12-team Arkansas Tech Tournament of Champions in Russellville, now in its 54th year.

At Russellville, the unbeaten Patriots will play the Dardanelle/Guy-Perkins winner on Friday, Dec. 27, at 4:30 p.m. while the Lady Patriots will open against Dover on Thursday, Dec. 26, at 3 p.m.

The Patriots won the Hazen Invitational last Saturday, defeating the host team Hazen in the finals. The Lady Patriots finished fourth, losing to Hazen in the consolation game.
