Roger Preston Charles

Mr. Roger Preston Charles, age 50, of Forrest City, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002 at his home.

Mr. Charles, born Jan. 1, 1952, in Forrest City, was the son of Lawrence William Charles and Lula Mae McDonald Charles. He was a chef and lived in Forrest City for most of his life.

Mr. Charles is survived by a brother, William Lee Charles of Tupelo, Miss.

A memorial service for Mr. Charles will be held at a later date for family and friends under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.


Eva Anolia Lynaugh Hedrick

Mrs. Eva Anolia Lynaugh Hedrick, age 78, of Forrest City, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, at her home.

Mrs. Hedrick, born July 16, 1923 in Forrest City, was the daughter of Tom Lynaugh and Minnie Roberts Lynaugh. She was a homemaker and lived in Forrest City all of her life. She was also a member of the Assembly of God Church.

In 1947, Mrs. Hedrick married Gene Hedrick and he preceded her in death in 1977. She is survived by three sons, Billy Hedrick, Bobby Hedrick and Kenny Hedrick, all of Forrest City; five daughters, Faye Richerson, Kay Hughes, Brenda Hill, Judy Watlington and Cheryl Dearing, all of Forrest City; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

There will be a visitation service for Mrs. Hedrick on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services for Mrs. Hedrick will be held, Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hughes Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.


Wilburn F. Padgett

Mr. Wilburn F. Padgett, age 69, of Holly Grove, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Memphis.

Mr. Padgett was born May 8, 1932, in Forrest City, and was the son of George Padgett and Emma Watts Padgett. He lived in Holly Grove for the past 30 years, was a retired Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force, a member of the Sammy Feldman VFW Post #87 in Holly Grove, and he was a Baptist.

Mr. Padgett was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Keller Padgett; a son, David Padgett; his parents; three brothers, George Padgett, Raymond Padgett and Virgil Padgett; one sister, Julia Wall; and one grandson, Billy Padgett.

He is survived by two sons, Douglas Padgett and Dwight Padgett, both of Holly Grove; one daughter, Donna Stokes, of Holly Grove; one brother, Lewis Padgett of Shell Lake; three sisters, Myrtle Leslie of Helena, Geneva Casey of Forrest City and Carolyn Mitchusson of Widener; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
