Ms. Edna Mae Culpepper died Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at Baptist
Memorial Hospital in Forrest City. She was 85.
She was born Nov. 6, 1916, in Forrest City, the daughter of
Don and Mattie Culpepper. She was a life-long, resident of Forrest
City and had worked for the county and Vandiver's Grocery for
several years.
Ms. Culpepper was preceded in death by her mother and father
and two brothers William Culpepper of Forrest City and Omar Culpepper
of Palestine.
She is survived by her sister Euna 'Dude' Hughes of Forrest
City, three nieces; Donna Hodges of Tampa, Fla., Nancy May and
Lana Lemke both of Forrest City; five great nephews Eric and Kelly
Hodges, Jason Johnson, Scott May, and Rob and Gabe Lemke; one
great niece Holly Hodges; three great great nephews Josh and Jody
Johnson and Brandon and Lucas Hodges; and one great great niece
Madison May.
Visitation will be held at Stevens Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m.
Wednesday, July 10, 2002.
Funeral services for Ms. Culpepper will be held at 10 a.m.
Thursday, July 11, 2002, at Stevens Funeral Home with burial following
at Forrest Park Cemetery.
Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Delbert Earley Middleton Sr., age 72, died Tuesday, July 9, 2002 at Cross Ridge Community Hospital in Wynne.
Mr. Middleton was a retired farmer, lifelong resident of Cross County, was a veteran of the U.S. Army and attended the Pentecostal Church.
Mr. Middleton was born Aug. 22, 1929 in Bastrop, La. the son of Jehiel and Jamie Catherine Middleton.
Mr. Middleton was married to Jennie Geneva Jones, who preceded him in death, and later married the former Evelina McMasters and Bobbie Jean Kelly, both who survive him.
He is also survived by nine sons, Delbert Middleton Jr. of Emmet, Daniel Middleton of Stephens, Gary Middleton of Hope, Jehiel Middleton of Sulphur Springs, Spurgeon Middleton of Calif., Edward Middleton of Vanndale, Bobby Middleton of Charleston, S.C., and William Middleton and Giedis Middleton both of Wynne; seven daughters, Deborah Jean Cooley of Wynne, Donna Middleton of Stephens, Evadell Johnson of Cherry Valley, and Ruby Mae Middleton, Earline Middleton, Anita Middleton and Elizabeth Middleton all of Wynne; one sister, Viola Harris of Aubrey; four brothers, Gerald Middleton of Kingston, Okla., Elbert Middleton of Bigelow, Junior Middleton of Bee Branch and Wyley Middleton of Colo.; 29 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Middleton was preceded in death by one son, Vernon Andrew Middleton; one daughter, Juanita Middleton; a sister, Nancy Middleton Mason; and two brothers Hugh Ed Middleton and Willie Iris Middleton.
Visitation for Mr. Middleton will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2002 at 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in Wynne. Services will be Thursday, July 11, 2002 at 10 a.m. at the Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Harris Chapel Cemetery in Wynne under the direction of Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home.
Memorials are to be made to the Arkansas Children's Hospital or the Veteran's Hospital in Little Rock.
Mr. Gerald Wayne Young, 59, died Tuesday, July 9, 2002.
He was a Purple Heart recipient of the Vietnam War, and was retired from Remington Arms.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Poor Young; three sons, Albert Young of Forrest City, Troy Young of Hazen and Mickel Young of Lonoke; two sisters, Shirley Martin of Oklahoma and Linda Derscheid of Mississippi; a brother, Maxie Don Young of Nevada; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 2002 at Boyd Funeral Home Chapel in Lonoke. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, July 12, at the funeral home, with burial following in Brownsville Cemetery.
