Mr. Robert Lee Buchanan, age 65, of Forrest City, died Thursday, July 11, 2002, at UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock.
Mr. Buchanan, born Feb. 12, 1937, in Grider, was a retired fork lift driver and is survived by four sons, Robert Buchanan Jr., Raymond Buchanan, Kenneth Buchanan and Myron Buchanan, all of St. Louis, Mo.; three daughters, Barbara Jackson and Pamela Hayes, both of St. Louis, Mo. and Phyllis Boston, of Philadelphia, Penn.; two brothers Johnny C. Buchanan and Tommy Buchanan, both of Little Rock; three sisters, Essie Davis of Chicago, Ill. and Annie Buchanan and Ella Buchanan, both of Little Rock; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Buchanan were held Sunday, July 14, 2002, at noon in the Chapel of Clay Funeral Home. Burial followed in Elcannon Cemetery under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.
Mrs. Viola K. French, age 92 of Palestine, died Sunday, July 14, 2002, in Palestine.
Mrs. French born Sept. 6, 1909, in Tippo, Miss., the daughter of Grady Kyzer and Georgia Baker Kyzer. She made her home in Palestine for most of her life and she was a housewife and a member of the Twin Assembly of God Church in Palestine.
In 1924, Mrs. French married Ora French and he preceded her in death in 1958. She is survived by two sons, Vernon French and Virgil French, both of Palestine; a step-son, Floyd French of Goodwin; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, 25 step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. French was also preceded in death by twin sons, in 1931; a step son, Austin French in 1974; a step-grandchild, Veda McCormack in 1990; a great-grandchild, Katy Billingsley in 1990 and a daughter, Geneva Thomas in 1997.
Visitation services for Mrs. French will be held, Monday, July 15, 2002, from 6 to 9 p.m. at in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services for Mrs. French will be held Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Twin Assembly of God Church in Palestine. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery in Palestine under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
